“A trip to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Had another outstanding time at the Lazy Bear for 5 fun filled days! The accomodations are lovely with heavenly beds, real fireplace in great room and electric ones in room plus comfortable sitting chairs and a great view of the mountains from my balcony. Anne and Mark are wonderful hosts and have delicious breakfasts every day and variety! They are warm, and so helpful in ideas about dining out and outings. I went to the frescoes in West Jefferson and they were so pretty and the old churches were charming. I especially enjoyed the wild game restaurant called the Gamekeeper and the ostrich which was better than steak! I have been going to Lazy Bear for a few years and enjoy it more every year. A must go to place!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are great. I especially liked the ones with balconies and views of the mountains!

Although our stay was only one night, I cannot say enough good things about this B & B. The setting in the hills of North Carolina was breathtaking with spectacular views of the mountains. The lodge was cozy and the amenities were "top notch." The owners were extremely gracious and the breakfast was 5 star. As we travel through that area several times each year we plan to stay at the lodge whenever possible.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the mountains have the best view.

We stayed here for valentines day and fortunately it was on a Thursday because there was only one other couple at the Lodge. It was an absolutely wonderful lodge. We spent our Valentine's day window shopping at Blowing rock, talking by the fire, having a gourmet dinner delivered to the lodge, and finally a nice bubble bath. The lodge is very well designed and nicely decorated, it felt authentic and true to what a cozy little lodge would feel like. Anne and Mark were wonderful hosts! They were helpful and provided us with places to eat and shop. Breakfast was excellent and i loved that music played throughout the lodge. Very relaxing! The lodge is just very picturesque. Their dogs were adorable giant furballs. I highly recommend this place for anyone needing a getaway from civilization.

Room Tip: The Best Room is lost creek. It has a gorgeous view. A Jacuzzi tub that can fit two regular sized pe...

I have stayed at this B&B twice in the last year. Everything about this B&B is great. No complaints at all. The scenery is amazing from this B&B. This will be my go to B&B when visiting the Boone area.

For about seven years, my wife and I have taken an annual weekend trip to Lazy Bear with four other couples. We rent the whole lodge with their five bedrooms. All of us have stayed in B&B's all over the USA as well as other countries and we rate Lazy Bear as number 1. Where else can you go and view deer and flying squirrels from the back porch. Breakfast is the best ! They are great cooks. If there is something that you forgot and need - just ask. The lodge is as clean as any 5 star hotel. The hospitality is second to none. Anne and Mark have done a great job and the dogs (Bo & Bella) help make you feel at home. Just tell them that the OTHG sent you...............................

I took my wife here for her birthday. It was my first time at a bed and breakfast. We absolutely loved that place. The views were phenomenal, even with the rain. The dogs were pleasant, the breakfast delicious and Anne and Mark were super helpful about getting around town, what to do, etc. I would definitely recommend this for a little getaway.

Room Tip: It's worth the extra twenty bucks to get one of the two rooms that overlooks the mountain on the...

This is a great place for animal lovers - the resident canines, Bo and Bella, are a focal point of the lodge. Great mountain view from the back porch and lots of wildlife to enjoy - birds, squirrels, deer. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious and nicely served. The location is great - much closer to Boone than we originally thought. Unfortunately, the owners were out of town during our stay so we missed the warmth and hospitality I'm sure they would have shown us. We hope to return and meet them!
