We were staying at the St. Regis Resort for a recent weekend trip and my father-in-law made reservations at this restaurant based on location alone (we didn't have to drive anywhere). He had not seen the menu or its prices beforehand. Upon our arrival, we were seated in a completely empty restaurant. Thus, no reservation was really necessary. The tablecloth was dirty, like they hadn't replaced it when the last guests left. Although the view from our table was fantastic, it was really hard to have a clear view because the windows are so old and dirty you can barely see out. The entire restaurant needs a complete renovation... the decor is stuck in the 1980's, which tells me it might be original to the restaurant.
In terms of the food, it really wasn't that bad. Everything was made fresh and to order. My sis-in-law has a garlic allergy and they accommodated her dietary needs. But the waitress seemed as if she was helping a dozen other tables. She acted as if she was hurried, but she was only helping us and one other table of guests. The rolls took 45 minutes to make it to the table and the meal came about 10 minutes after the rolls. Frankly, the meal was good but not the best I have ever had. Very small portions for the price.
Overall, I would definitely travel to a different restaurant in Surf City or Topsail Beach to get a better and much cheaper meal.
