My partner and I decided to take a night trip to celebrate our anniversary while she was in to visit. Michele was very helpful from the first time I inquired until the time we checked out. My partner's flight got in from Seattle at 6 a.m., followed by a 3-hour drive to Sylva. After explaining this, Michele let us check in VERY early, which was very appreciated.

The Romancer cottage was incredible: it had a canopied, king-sized bed and a hot tub. Everything was very clean and comfortable, especially considering how early we arrived. It was well worth the price we paid for it. The catch is that there's not a whole lot remotely close to the cottages. Depending on what you desire, this can be a positive or a negative.

Overall, we loved our experience and fully plan on returning at sometime in the near future.

The cottages are very clean and have character. You can tell the owners put a lot of time and care in upkeep and decorating with personal touches. I loved coming in after a long day exploring and sitting on the porch listening to the brooks. The bed was a bit soft for us and it was hard to get use to a full when you are use to a king size bed. I ask my husband what was his favorite part of the vacation and he said "the trout pond" he doesn't fish but he said he could just sit there all day relaxing. It's not for everyone and I told Michelle that I know people that would hate it. They have to have the TV and radio on at the same time while ironing getting ready for a night on the town. Can't do any of that and that's just fine with me.

Staying at Mountain Brook Cottages is like staying with friends for the week-end. With a busy work schedule, we find confort in no phones, TV's or rushed and packed vacation to-do-list when we relax in our favorate cabin. The owners have become dear friends and we look forward to visiting with them. Our favorite part is to lay on the couch in front of the fire and read a good book. The sound of nature and the brook will put anyone to ease and you are with-in driving distance to all of the area without having to hear car horns or dealing with busy traffic. This is the place to just enjoy living.

I have been visiting Mountain Brook since 1985, first with my then-husband for our honeymoon, and now with my 2 grown children. It is the perfect getaway with no TV to bother you with nonsense shows or bad news. Just sitting on the porch swing listening to the birds and babbling brook is so peaceful and it makes you forget about everything. In these tough times, it is a very economical place to stay since you can cook in the cabins, they are fully furnished. Just pop into the town grocery store on the way up and you are all set for your stay. And there is so much free stuff to do in the area, like the waterfalls, Blue Ridge Parkway and hiking. The nearby towns are friendly and unique. We ate on the porch for all our meals, grilled out and even made s'mores in the fireplace. It is truly a little piece of heaven on earth and the owners and staff are exceptional people (and their little pets too!)
