Great place to stay for couples needing some serenity and time to get reacquainted with each other. Each unit has ample area in which to sit on a rocking chair and enjoy the Sunset Beach sun from sunrise to sunset with great beach and marsh activities located within easy walking distance. Ocean Isle, Calabash and N. Myrtle are close by in case you need to mix up the activity a little. The rooms are nicely appointed, roomy, and all have a screened rear balcony overlooking the marsh and intercoastal waterway, but what made it exceptional were the people at the desk and the inn owner. You will feel welcomed and at home here as they are professional yet very personable. Top floors are best.

Southern charm on overdrive, spotless rooms named for local sites. Each room has a plaque explaining its room name's history. Beautiful marsh views from each room's balcony---a great place to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day!

The Sunset Inn has lovely marsh views from the rooms, a balcony to enjoy, and a sweet comfortable ambiance. The people are friendly and welcoming! It is in a little world of its own, yet accessible to stores and beach. A lovely stay!

We've been going to Sunset Beach for 30 years and usually rent a beach house for our family members. My wife and I live only a few hours away from Sunset and have always said we need to come down for a long weekend and stay at the Inn. Well after saying this for about 10 years, we finally did. We regret not taking one of those quick trips sooner. The Inn was everything we hoped for and more. Andrea, the innkeeper, was so friendly and helpful with recommending restaurants since the one we usually go to was closed for the season. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Even though it was almost December, the weather was mild and we were able to sit out on the screened in balcony overlooking the marsh drinking wine while watching the sunset. What a fantastic prelude to dinner. By the way, Andrea was able to provide wine glasses for us which was great since I forgot to pack a couple. The inn provides a breakfast which was very complete with all the continental items plus a great sausage/egg casserole and sausage. My wife liked it so much, she got the recipe from Andrea and plans to make it soon. I highly recommend the Inn and visit to Sunset Beach and look forward to coming back for another quick trip soon.

We stayed at the Sunset Inn for only one night wishing we could have stayed longer. We were greeted by Susan, who took the time to show us the Smithville Room and its amenities and even took the time to explain how the TV/Satellite worked. The view of the salt marsh was good when we turned the rocking chairs away from the new bridge. Some view the massive, concrete bridge as an eyesore but I liked the convenience of it - it leads you right to the Inn. The old single-lane pontoon bridge is no longer being used. It's easy to see why the Smithville Room is the most popular - the soothing color and pristine decor make it very elegant and comfortable. The breakfast was good and homemade and coffee available all day in the dining room/library. There are current magazines, books, and videos for borrowing. The Carolina Coast is just two blocks away with some free parking and beach access by the pier. The Inn offers downstairs storage space for your beach items so you don't have to lug them up to your room each day. Clean, comfortable, and relaxing stay at a beautiful, cozy Inn with off-season rates that can't be beat.

The Sunset Inn is a wonderful place to go for relaxing, peaceful time away with that special someone, or with a group of friends or colleagues. Sunset Beach is one of the nicest beach spots around, and the Inn offers lovely amenities, great views, and customized care. I love it here!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Sunset Inn opened its doors to the beauty of the saltwater marsh and island life in June 2000. The honey-colored wood floors in the entrance and living area shine softly in the light that filters through the large windows. The Inn is not your typical B&B; it is larger with 14 rooms but still has that cozy atmosphere that makes folks feel right at home. An expanded continental breakfast is served each morning buffet style. You may choose to have your morning meal in the breakfast room or in the privacy of your own room. Each room has a different theme and decor with a king-size bed, wet bar, refrigerator, love seat and private screened porch with rockers. The four grand rooms each have a jetted tub plus a larger corner porch with rockers & porch swings, robes and IPod docks. Come experience the quiet comfort for yourself. ... more   less
