“Best B&B at Sunset Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We have stayed at Sunset Inn many times and have never been disappointed. We were just there for Valentine's and our anniversary. This is where we like to spend all of our anniversary's. The staff is the best, they treat you like family. The rooms are always so clean and beautiful, each one decorated entirely different. As long as they have their doors open we will be back. Thanks for the wonderful week-end!!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are large and sunny and we do like to stay on the top floor.

My husband and I went for Valentine's weekend. The room was immaculate and we were greeted with chocolates and champagne, as well as homemade heart shaped brownies. The views were spectacular and the Inn was peaceful and quiet. The employees were so friendly, laid back and welcoming. I would highly recommend the Sunset Inn!

Hubby and I have celebrated two anniversaries at The Sunset Inn. We love the quiet, serene ambiance...from there being just a number of rooms (designed for couples) to the marsh view outside.

We enjoyed walking down to Sunset Beach; enjoyed the nice breakfast buffet. There are books to borrow for entertainment, and may be some dvds (can't remember).

We enjoy having a whirlpool in our suite and staying on the top floor...Have stayed in both the Hatteras room and the Bird Island room. Both on the end with a large corner porch. We really enjoyed both the rocking chairs and the swing on our private back porch!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet/sound proof, which is a huge make-or-break deal in my opinion. Can't go wro...

We love having couples come to spend their special times with us!! We hope you had a terrific anniversary and wish you many more happy years :). All four of our grand rooms have the whirlpool tubs, and larger screened porches with swings. And yes, we also have DVDs and books to borrow. It's nice to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast and the wonderful quiet here at The Sunset Inn. Come back for a visit soon!!

I asked for special permission to bring my 8 year-old son to Sunset Inn and was delighted to be welcomed as we were. His birthday request was to go to Sunset Beach to see if we can find interesting animals in the tidal pools. Neither of us had been to the beach in the winter before. The Inn was beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Smithville Room, on the lower level, as that is one of the approved rooms for children. The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. There was a small refrigerator, sink and microwave, and a DVD player and the bed was very comfortable. We borrowed Yatzee from the reception area which was a nice treat. The rate is quite reasonable given how nice the Inn is. We had no issues with noise. In fact I was surprised at breakfast to see so many people were staying in the Inn as we had not heard anyone else all night. Breakfast was nice - not as nice as other B&B's I've been to but definitely better than an Hampton Inn. There was a variety of options (quiche, cranberry bread, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit, and yogurt). Our private balcony with rocking chairs looked onto the marsh and we enjoyed listening to the rain and the birds and looking for alligators (which we didn't see). I would definitely recommend The Sunset Inn and hope to stay there again myself. My son has asked if we can return next year for his birthday.

On the beach we biked to the end near Ocean Isle to look in the tidal pools. We didn't find much in the pool, but on the beach we found many beautiful shells, three jellyfish stranded in the low tide and two sea stars.

My only suggestion is to make sure you understand the heating system before bedtime. I had to mess with it during the night a couple of times to get it to a comfortable temperature.

Thank you, Sunset Inn, for the lovely weekend!

I'm so glad your son had a great birthday!! Sunset Beach in the winter can be quite a terrific place, the weather is generally mild and the crowds are no where to be found. Our Smithville room is a beautifully appointed room, so lovely with all the blues and creams. We do have a few games and some movies and books for guests to borrow while they are here, I'm glad you were able to use them. The Inn has a nice, quiet comfort to it; many of our guests have mentioned how serene it is, I'm glad y'all enjoyed the peace. I'm sorry you had a little snafu with the heat in your room, we have a page in the book in every room and we will make sure that we point it out to everyone, thank you. We hope that you will come back and have a visit with us again.

Our recent stay at the Sunset Inn was everything we could have hoped for. It's a cut above an average hotel. We arrived after hours on Thanksgiving eve. Our room was nice and warm with the door unlocked and keys inside, just as promised. The room was quiet and had everything we needed, including a kitchenette. There was a lovely homemade breakfast served each morning with the best authentic grits I've ever had!. We had a lovely view of the marsh from our private porch complete with rocking chairs! The staff bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was comfortable and satisfying. We look forward to returning to the Sunset Inn during the summer when we can enjoy the beach!

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms are quietest.

Thank you for the great review!! We want every stay here to be delightful and we are so pleased that yours was :). We always want breakfast here to be something terrific and we'll have to ask Andrea teach us all her grits recipe. The marsh that is right outside our backdoor is spectacular, its great that you were able to experience it!! Our staff will always try to make sure that our guests are truly happy with their stay, we are surely glad you were. Please do come back for a visit in the summer, our beaches here are amazing!!

My husband I stayed here the weekend of November 1st for our 1 year anniversary and we loved it! Everyone was so nice, the rooms very clean and cozy. We stayed in the Vesta room and the view was gorgeous. I'm not one to write reviews but I felt like they needed one. As I was searching for somewhere to stay I kept coming back to their website and could not find a negative review. All around great place to stay, very quiet, and I plan on returning!!!!!!

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger and get a top level floor so you don't hear the people above you walkin...

Happy Anniversary!! We are so happy you choose to spend your anniversary here with us, and we certainly hope you will spend many more here!! The Vesta Grand room is a lovely room and one of our most popular, it has a terrific nautical theme and a wonderful salt marsh view, it's also slightly more masculine than some of our others. Our great reviews mean so much to us and we will continue to work hard to earn them. Thank you for yours!! Come back for a visit soon!

Always a perfect room, perfectly clean, everything works, everything is nice on the side of plush, like a cruise room from a ship stuck in an inn on a beautiful island in the estuary of NC. My favorite part is waking up to the laughing gulls in the marsh. I always leave my door open to hear that in the morning... Ahhhh....We had a full moon sunset walk and a full moon on the beach with virtually no one around, beautiful.

The Sunset Inn opened its doors to the beauty of the saltwater marsh and island life in June 2000. The honey-colored wood floors in the entrance and living area shine softly in the light that filters through the large windows. The Inn is not your typical B&B; it is larger with 14 rooms but still has that cozy atmosphere that makes folks feel right at home. An expanded continental breakfast is served each morning buffet style. You may choose to have your morning meal in the breakfast room or in the privacy of your own room. Each room has a different theme and decor with a king-size bed, wet bar, refrigerator, love seat and private screened porch with rockers. The four grand rooms each have a jetted tub plus a larger corner porch with rockers & porch swings, robes and IPod docks. Come experience the quiet comfort for yourself. ... more   less
