Description: Found high up on the Blue Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains, "The Tropical Grill" is here to give you an unexpected dining experience. As you exit off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Spruce Pine, NC, go to "Upper Street" in downtown Spruce Pine, across from the Wells Fargo Bank. Tropical Dishes from around the world... Not found anywhere in the mountains and in some cases nowhere else in the Continental United States, unique and original. Dishes from Central America, Colombia, Cuba, the Caribbean, Asia and of course all your favorite Country Style American Home Cookin'. Lunch and dinner includes a full deli and grill with our Philly cheese steak, ruebens, burgers, paninis, Cuban sandwiches and our famous "Riveria". Tropical selections for lunch and dinner include: Fish Tacos, a complete vegetarian and gluten free selection, our famous Tropi-chop platter, Pollo ala Plancha, Steak Argentina and our popular Quesadillas. We have a full line of salads, including our Caribbean salad, our Asian salad and our Greek Salad. Our Quatro Leche dessert cake is to die for! Dine in or take out. Catering is our specialty. PURCHASE OUR GUATEMALAN IMPORT PRODUCTS TO HELP SEND PROCEEDS TO THE MISSIONS IN GUATEMALA. By purchasing our Import products, you are helping the Guatemalan people in many ways. First you help put monies into the Mayan economy. This provides economic opportunities for entire villages that otherwise have very little hope. Secondly, proceeds from your purchase go back to the missions in Guatemala that provide a much needed medical service and supply. But most important, understand it is our primary task to reach each Guatemalan with the "Good News" of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Great tasting food, a diamond in Spruce Pine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

If you visit the gemstone mining region of western NC, be sure to stop at the Tropical Grill in Spruce Pine. Located in the heart of downtown, you will be charmed by the owner,Claudia, and the wonderful food. While we were there, we sat outside, and enjoyed the tropical specialties, on the menu..The food is fresh and plentiful. I would recommend the Cuban sandwich, or one of the pork entrees. The pork was delicious, and the plantains have to be tried to be believed. You will not be disappointed. The service is friendly and embracing. You really get a feel for the small town charm of Spruce Pine. We hope to come back again..

“Fresh, flavorful, friendly and cultured”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

Excellent service and great explanation of the menu from the very friendly owner! This will be our place to relieve our winter blues - the bright colors, flavors and cultures reminds us of our Central & South American travels. We will be spending lots of time on the outdoor patio, in this friendly atmosphere, when the weather is nicer. As locals, we fully recommend The Tropical Grill!

“What a nice suprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

We went for lunch, looking for something different. We enjoy mom & pop places with a story and we were not disappointed. Mom was from Columbia in South America and very personable. She and her American husband met in Fla. and traveled th country with his job. When he retired, they moved to the Spruce Pine area and opened the resturaunt to offer not only American, but tropical cousine as well. I had pulled park with mango salsa and blk beans and fried plantians...wonderful. I enjoyed the visit and the meal. Worth the visit.

“Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

My husband and I went there because we thought it looked like a quaint place and different. The food was outstanding. We had planned on eating outside where we could watch the traffic and everything was filled, so we ate inside by a window. Eating inside was great. All the zodiac colors of everything was extraordinary and while we were waiting for our food I looked at everything from earrings to handbags made from Guatemala. The service was wonderful! So this is a little gem of a place if you ever get a chance to go, please do by all means!
