“Down Home Cooking Like MaMa always made!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Forget the KeyWestClown... get back to Florida! Who orders a hotdog at a family resturant that has the best country cookin' in the world? That's like ordering a T-Bone at McDonald's. If you are looking for down home cooking and have left one too many restaurants disappointed these fine folks aim to please. I must say that all of the meals I have tried have been excellent! Pan fried chicken livers that'll make your mouth water when brought to the table, and chicken & dumplin's that brought back memories of my Granny "Elizabeth Guffey". Do you want to eat a meal so genuine that it brings back memories of loved one's you have'nt seen in years? Look no further, mama's in the kitchen at The Sheperd's Table.

“"Great home-cooked food and nice family environment"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

We stop here quite often when we visit family in Spruce Pine and Burnsville and we have yet to have a bad experience at The Shepherd's Table. The food is always good and the staff is very pleasant and efficient. I know this is a family business and if you do have a problem with the food or service you receive, the owners are there and would appreciate the opportunity to correct the problem. We look forward to going back later this fall.

“In need of a prayer”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

How can you screw up a hotdog? Mom and pop stop with below average food and ok service. Green beans were the only not fried side option. They were greasy and way to salty to eat. Fried seafood platter was covered in little fried pieces of something topped with a horrible deviled crab and tastless hushpuppies. I could not tell or taste the difference in shrimp, oysters or scallops. Inflexible kids menu, no seafood, no substitutions allowed. Hotdog was greasy and broken and tasted freezer burned. Salad bar was minimal to say the best. Country gospel music was loud but interesting choice.
Waitress said that the seafood was from the coast and "not from China." Guess she overlooked that half of our table was Chinese. Not a welcome comment!
This is a great candidate for "Restaurant Impossible."

I remember you being there, and I am sorry about your feelings on my restaurant, but to be fair, we have 14 sides only 2 of them are fried and thats fries and okra, and we substitute anything but there is a charge to do so, everything on the menu is priced as to what is on the plate, and when you substitute for a higher priced item, there is a charge . I don't know anywhere where you can get higher priced substitutes and it not cost anything, unless you eat at an expensive restaurant and the cost is covered in the high menu price, and I don't know of any place that the salad bar comes with a kids meal for free. if you had any problems with your food, you didn't say anything to your waittress about it , you said everything was fine and you ate everything. The comment she made about the seafood not coming from china was not in any way intended to hurt anyones feelings at all and I am trulty sorry you were offended by it. There have been some things on the news about seafood coming out of china with something wrong with it, and we get asked a lot where ours comes from, and when you asked, she just thought you were talking about that , she did not mean in any to offend anyone.

“OMG Great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

I ask the locals where to eat and this is it. Home cooked food like greens, corn bread, pinto beans. Killer cheeseburger and mouth watering pan fried chicken livers with onions, service was just as good as the food. Prices were more than reasonable it is hard to find somewhere to eat for 2 people that is less than 15.00.
