“Not what was expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2009

My husband and I went here to eat for dinner one night. I had seen there menu posted on the window on a previous visit to Southport. We love fish tacos and decided to try them. Not at all what was expected. The menu said they came with fresh blue corn shells and the "normal cabbage" topping. When we get our food there are fried fish filets, stale corn shells and a lettuce, tomato and cheese salad on our plate. Nothing resembling a fish taco. We complained about the stale shells and they said they would fry us some more, which they did and they were stale too. I think what we got was overpriced and not good.

“Truly excellent!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2009

At 9pm on a sleepy Saturday night ( 20/6/09) in Southport, we were welcomed at this charming restaurant for dinner (it said last orders at 8pm) and found it truly excellent. It is located close to the water front in the historic quarter. On entering there is a splendid wood cocktail bar on the left and beside it a romantic window table with comfy leather chairs. Two of us sat in the other window and we enjoyed fantastic service from the waitresses.

From the large menu, one of us had the rich, reduced tomato soup and the other dipped hot French bread in the tasty tomato, a work of culinary art. The crab cake in phyllo/filo pastry was outstanding and served with a light salad. The perfect quiche was served with boiled red potatoes, fresh greens, and, a salad dusted with honey and walnut vinaigrette. The sweets were exotic. I had a superb crème brûlée served in a large dessert glass topped with a strawberry and an edible pink orchid. With four generous glasses of good wine, the check was $83.00. Probably one of the best meals we have ever had in North Carolina. Next time we'll arrive earlier, the other friendly clients were discerning diners.

“Just plain AWESOME!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2008

We visited the "Pharmacy" restaurant on a weekend trip in October to Southport/Bald Head Island. The food was AMAZING. We started out with our homeade soup du jour (Roasted Red Pepper Soup and Portabella Mushroom Bisque). YUMMY. I would take home HUGE containers of this stuff if I didn't live in another state! Dinner was great. Their house specialty is crab cakes which are wrapped in phyllo dough. Gorgeous and tasty! They also have a daily menu which changes. I ordered the quiche, a ham/swiss and garden tomato. Served with a honey walnut balsamic vinegarette side salad with mesclun greens. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I would HIGHLY recommend. The service is wonderful as well. The waitresses like to ask about your day and make you feel like you're a part of their family. Go there and enjoy, and remember to get the soup!!

“Truly great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2008

What a lucky find this was. Make sure you plan your route to include this restaurant for either lunch or dinner. We popped in for lunch were mightily impressed. All the food is homemade by the chef/owner. The soup was divine and the sandwiches wonderful. The dinner menu looked fantastic and it was a pity that we couldn't stay.
