“Great Food and Super New Seating Area for AWESOME Views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We went to dinner at The Frying Pan this evening and were so excited to sit in the new seating area. It sits at that same height as the bar and is very comfortable. It makes the spectacular view even better!!! I had the yummy Shrimp & Grits and Rick had the 'Galley Basket!" Both were delicious and our service was GREAT! When we left we sat on the deck and enjoyed the breeze.

“Wonderful Food !! Unbeatable Views !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

The views from this restaurant are breathtaking !! You could sit there for hours just taking in the waterfront scenery. The dining experience was just as enjoyable.. An open kitchen allows you to see all sort of meals being prepared. We had the chowder, which I highly recommend, crab cakes, and the pan seared scallops. Everything was delicious !!
Before going, we read some other reviews. A couple of reviewers said there was only fried food there, but we saw more than 10 other dinner choices that weren't fried ( turn the page on the menu ). We enjoy fried seafood but have some friends that prefer pan seared, grilled, etc.... there was something for all of them on the menu.
I any case, we really enjoyed our visit and will be back again the next time we are in Southport.

“Beautiful location.....too bad food is so mediocre.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

New Southport restaurant as of last fall and great sunset views overlooking the Intra-coastal but the food is really a disappointment. Yes, they advertise that they serve fried food but does almost everything have to be fried. A creative chef could turn the menu into something interesting and good but as it is after three tries I doubt that we would return except for a drink.

“Can't Wait To Go Back !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

This place must truly be experienced !! It's difficult to describe the jaw dropping scenery from this restaurant, simply because I can't think of anything to compare it with. The Frying Pan sits directly on the intra-coastal waterway with outstanding views of Bald Head Island and Oak Island. Saw lots of coastal wildlife and watched commercial and pleasure craft traveling the waterway. There is an open kitchen where you can see all the food being prepared. Everything in the kitchen was either stainless steel or white tile.... looked very clean. The food was great !! The seafood chowder is an absolute MUST.... I ate three bowls. Also had the coconut shrimp ( which came with a sweet potato biscuit ) seared scallops wrapped in bacon, crab cakes, and the strawberry cheesecake for desert. Everything was excellent and not overly breaded like many other places we have been. Our drinks were always refilled before empty....which is a big complaint I have at other restaurants. The staff was very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Definitely worth the drive from Wrightsville Beach to eat here. Looking forward to our next visit.
