Great place to take the family . Very friendly and helpful staff. Many exhibits that give a great view into the history of Southport and the surrounding area. A must for any history buff. Highly recommended.

“Quite Interesting”

Did not expect this small museum to have so much local history, there is always so much to learn and see in this town.

“Great history of Southport”

Lots of historical artifacts and pictures. Love the real periscope. Bald Head looked like it was right in front of you. Great gift shop and employees!

“Small but packed with artifacts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Southport shares the rich history of the area and this museum reflects its relationship to the water. There are artifacts about ancient history, the Civil War, commercial fishing, pirates, etc. There is a lot to read but a neat collection.
