“A brilliant stay with wonderful people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

I was fortunate enough to stay at 'The Jefferson Inn' in Southern Pines, NC for three weeks. It was an absolute pleasure. Recently renovated, yet still keeping with the old world, This wonderful Inn was first established at the turn of last century. It is a 5 star Inn with excellent service and is staffed with the most wonderful, friendly and caring people of the south. It was an absolute pleasure and an all round wonderful experience. If you are considering staying in Southern Pines I would highly recommend you to stay here. You will thank me for the experience.

Considered a hotel but its smallness is like a bed & breakfast.
Friendly staff, nice tavern for drinks and food. Outside bar on weekend which is quite popular.
Southern Pines is very laid back but golf courses and resorts in area is great.
A very good value instead of the pricey nearby resort hotels.

Charming for sure, quiet-no!! Bedding is great, room average, noise level-loud! Tossed and turned all night long. Location right near shops and lots of dining choices. Would not eat at their restaurant again if given the choice (our deal included a $20 dining certificate) so we didn't have a choice. Most definitely would not stay again

The hotel and room was beautiful. The tavern/restaurant food was great. The area (historic downtown Southern Pines) was nice to walk around in. But... on Thursday through Saturday nights they have music in their courtyard and the crowd gets very loud. So, if you want to relax, don't go on a music night! Breakfast was not impressive either.

Kelly was working every time we walked thru the lobby. She switched our room when she discovered our ac was down. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The town is really cool if you like them quaint and small.

Used to absolutely love this place. Very nicely renovated 100 year old inn with luxurious spacious rooms with all the modern conveniences. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

However, on our last visit it became apparent that this place has lost its identity. They now focus on drawing large crowds with live music on the weekends, i.e. a nightclub. The band was great but not outside of our room. This is a small and quaint place so no matter which room you are in you are going to hear the band and crowd like they were in your room. The band played until midnight and the bar was open until 2 AM with a very loud crowd. We didnt get to sleep until 3 AM! Quite frustrating when you pay $300/night for a quiet weekend. They did give us a $100 credit on our bill for the trouble. However, it was clear this was a common problem as some of the waitresses warned us that it would be quite loud in our room and appeared to be apologizing in advance. I've also noticed one other review on this site that describes an earily similar experience. If you want to stay up late partying with live music this place will be great for you. But if you want a quiet getaway this is not it. They should just be upfront with people when they make their reservation.

In the end it just doesn't seem possible to have a quaint inn and a nightclub on the same property. Its unfortunate because this place has so much potential. Its also inconsiderate to mislead the guests. They should change the name from Jefferson Inn to Jefferson Nightclub.

Ourselves and two other couples had another outstanding stay at the Jefferson Inn. The little Victorian Inn in the heart of Southern Pines feels like home because of the friendlyness of the staff Curtis the owner who is always on site. The nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable beds and the sound of the train whistles in the night are delightful. If you are planning a golf trip to this area check out the Jefferson as a place to stay while playing some of the "other" good courses in the area. Southern Pines Golf Club less than two miles away is a hidden gem.
