Sneads Ferry is the gateway to the greater Surf City/ Topsail Island area...and though it has a small town feel, there is a rich amount of offerings in that little piece of land.
People travel locally a good thirty minutes from the fast food clogged overpopulated city of Jacksonville to eat at the fine seafood restaurants along the intercoastal waterway in Sneads Ferry. The Riverview Cafe is famous. Dr. Rootbeer's Hall of Foam has to be experienced to be believed. So decadent.
Along Highway 210 there is a little, tucked away shop called Colleen's Corner Boutique, that sells extremely fashionable clothes that one would have to drive at least to Wilmington to find in comparison, and absolutely breathtaking costume jewelry that is so reasonably priced....and NOT the "beach tacky" stuff that is so common in coastal shops. It is "to the moment" in fashion,
seen in Vogue, and arranged so artfully in coordination with the clothing in displays...anyone who steps into the boutique forgets they are in the South and is transported to a little shop on 7th Ave. in NYC for a 1/2 hour, while being greeted and hosted by the most charming & gracious lady, Ms. Colleen. Fabulous.
Don't forget to stop at Sneads Beans on Highway 172 and get your choice of Organic coffees, espressos, teas, latte's, and the like. Delicious and the people there make you feel right at home...."stop, put your feet up and stay a while"......That shop got it right from the start with supporting fair trade exchange and sustainability with its products.
Lor-e-Lei's Pub has the best lunch in the area. And the most entertaining karaoke at night. It is a cold beer and a good time with every kind of person imaginable making up the cast of characters....and the bartenders are awesome.
Yes.....Sneads Ferry may be small, but it sure has a lot to offer. Check it out. It won't disappoint.
