“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

While the masses flock to the insipid chain restaurants up and down Highway 74, a few blocks away in the heart of Shelby is a completely unexpected gem! Gourmet food, kind and attentive wait staff, bistro atmosphere with white table clothes, and reasonable prices. For a few dollars more than the chain restaurants, why not sample the best? Try their mussels, a warm goat cheese salad, and their banana Ni Fen desert.

“Hidden gem in Shelby-excellent food, Friday night music”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

I found this on Trip Advisor and the reviews were spot on. The food was great and the atmosphere very nice. Downtown Shelby really is quaint. We planned on going to Owl's Eye Vineyard afterwards to the Friday Wine Down Event. We took my parents who are very particular and don't eat out much and they loved it. The staff was also very attentive. Great value. We had the dinner special available between 5-6:25pm.

“Tasty, quality food, comfortable environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We have been enjoying Janette's culinary talents for decades. Her new location in uptown Shelby is easy to find, near the Don Gibson Theater and the soon-to-open Earl Scruggs Center, next door to a delightful new book retailer. Her menu has a variety of attractions with specials of fresh fish, meats, and local produce. I enjoyed seared scallops recently, with good cheese grits and sautéed veggies. The coconut cream pie is one of the best I have tasted. The wine and beer list is extensive for a relatively small operation.

“pricey on dinner special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

watch the pricing.
Chef selection is overpriced and WORSE prices for "fresh chef selections" are not posted and this allows the waitstaff to offer different quotes for each table. Just to warn you.

Food was very good but certain dishes very pricey.

Thank goodness it was half price for wines by the glass tonigjt because on any other night the price for a glass would be crazy and would not consider purchasung.
