“Rainbow Falls a must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Rainbow Falls is accessible from Gorges State Park via a moderately strenuous hike. But the falls are impressive and you can actually hike to above the falls. Great photo opportunities at various locations.

“Waterfall lovers take note!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Rainbow Falls was on our "bucket list" of falls to see and we have an older hiking guide, so when we got to the entrance to Gorges State Park, we were in for a nice surprise! The Visitors Center is an amazing building with fun exhibits (especially if you have kids as there is a lot of interactive things to explore) and a wonderful room to relax in front of a huge fireplace with amazing views (not to mention spotless restroom facilities). The hike to Rainbow Falls was really great, now one of our favorites. A good workout (especially on the return trip back to the car) that will take you a couple of hours round trip. Will definitely return to try some of the other hikes. Best of all it's free (Thanks State of North Carolina!), although we did leave a donation.

“It's a Great Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

My wife and I really enjoyed hiking here. Once we realized how big the park was, we understood that more time would be required to explore this place than we had to spend.

We hiked to Rainbow Falls. It was magnificent. We are looking forward to a return trip that would permit is so enjoy more of the scenic beauty.

“Experience the raw power of Rainbow Falls close up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Gorges State Park offers spectacular beauty and a varitey of ways to celebrate the natural environment. Our favorite was the hike to Rainbow Falls.

Rainbow Falls is truly awesome to experience up close. You can feel the spray on your face, hear the roar, and feel the pounding of the cascading waters before you. This moderate 3 mile hike is beautiful. There are some uphill and downhill sections to navigate and the trail crosses two small streams on stones placed to make a path. When you arrive at the Falls the view is exhilarating. This is someplace I look forward to returning to.

“Gorges worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Gorges State Park is a long curving drive from Brevard but once you arrive it all seems worth it. The Visitors center is beautiful and has an excellent view to the highest locations on NC. The hike to the falls is nearly 3 miles, but the views are astounding. The park is very active and during certain times of the year maybe quite slow. Many places along the trail sit to rest or get a quick snack. Go for it!
