“Wonderful place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Stayed overnight with my husband to learn a little bit about Salisbury and this part of North Carolina. Very comfortable, large room. Beautiful old house. Karen is a great ambassador for Salisbury. Loved that we were able to walk into town but neighborhood was quiet and in itself, a destination for a walk.

This was our first visit to the B&B. Karen Windate was a most gracious innkeeper and provided the best of everything: bedrooms were beautiful and extremely comfortable, the house was wonderfully restored and furnished exquisitely, and the breakfasts were a work of art and very delicious! Karen provided excellent knowledge of the locale to help us plan our events and eating out choices . Overall, a great place to stay in Salisbury!

Room Tip: Our party had two couples and both rooms were excellent, on second floor.

I've stayed at the Turn of the Century at least ten times during annual visits to attend family foundation meetings. Karen Windate has done a superb job of restoring a stately Victorian, has furnished it with wonderful period antiques, and offers visitors a choice of comfortable rooms. Karen's breakfasts are terrific, and she can tell you all the things to see and do in and around Salisbury. She is simply a wonderful host, which is why I go back year after year.

And Karen Windate is the reason for repeated visits. This innkeeper knows her craft. She is a Renaissance woman with the most interesting history. She is accommodating, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, pays attention to details, is an excellent chef and a wonderful hostess who doesn't turn a hair when asked for odd condiments.
I was in Salisbury for a family wedding. Turn of the Century was recommended because of Karen and I was delighted with my stay.
Karen put me in the Summer room with lovely wicker furniture. Each room has its own bathroom and mine was big enough for another bedroom. It had a freestanding claw foot tub with the curtain rail all around and hidden in the little closet on the wall was a hairdryer.
P.S. the beds have warmers.

This was our third stay and actually the destination of our trip instead of an overnight stay on the way to Virginia. Karen told us about the Tour of Homes and we were conveniently located to walk to the homes on tour. We had another wonderful room with a large bathroom with a great claw-footed tub with shower. The breakfasts were great as always, especially the fruit served in a fresh pineapple. Karen recommended another good restaurant for dinner downtown and made our reservations. Salisbury and Turn of the Century B&B is now one of our favorites and highly recommended.

Great place for a peaceful, relaxing getaway: a beautifully restored house furnished with lovely antiques; large, comfortable rooms; a scrumptious breakfast gorgeously presented; and excellent service. The location is ideal in a quiet, historic neighborhood with a short walk to restaurants and antique shops in downtown Salisbury. Just celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary there and look forward to returning. Heartily agree with the other reviewers - Karen is a terrific innkeeper. Highly recommend!

Karen Windate, Innkeeper, made my stay at Turn of the Century Victorian B&B somthing special. Her attention to detail was exceptional...breakfasts outstanding, knowledge of the area extremely helpful, but most of all 'the little things' ( filling ice bucket, leaving little candies bedside, supplying reading material, maps, restaurant guides/menu's...the list goes on and on) created a 'big' visit. Will recommend and return.
