“Very well presented.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This was a very nice, modern, clean, cool and comfortable motel room. Then again, at over $200 a night for a standard room, it should be! Keep in mind though that this is generally what you pay up in this corner of Australia; there’s an accommodation shortage, so they’ve got you by the short and curlies. The motel (and caravan park) is set in nice leafy green grounds next to the Fitzroy River. The motel is elevated – tropical style – so you can park your car underneath out of the sun.

I thought it was lovely! There were beautiful sweet smelling flowers growing outside my room and I got some splendid pictures of giant cicadas clinging to one of the gum trees!

I really appreciated the lodge squeezing us into staff/overflow quarters when the campground was otherwise full.

My partner and i enjoyed a very nice meal in the restaurant and i really appreciate the front desk service, in particular from Todd, which was pleasant and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome after a long day of travelling.

Room Tip: Keep doors closed and lights off at night to minimise the bugs!

Only here for one night but quickly warmed to the location and accommodation. Parking underneath stilted rooms - getting luggage up steep outside stairs was awkward but the room was fine. The place is remote and just far enough away from the road for it not to influence sleep.
Pleasant walks up and down the river. Food is basic but OK.

Room Tip: If you want a thrill stand on the bridge - this is Fitzroy Crossing - when one of the huge road trai...

Camped on a powered site for one night & have no complaints whatsoever. We were able to pick a site, all of which were quite large. The amenities & campground were spotless... Arrived at 7 pm & left 12hours later so I can't comment on camp kitchen or restaurant unfortunately but we enjoyed our stay & had a great night's sleep.
This looks to be the nicest campground in the area- for $35 I think it's worth it.

Stayed here for one night as I had business in Fitzroy. It is a bit out of Fitzroy, so you are depending on transport if you do not have a rental. the rooms were average, had an upstairs room. 2 beds, kitchen corner and bathroom. All old, but acceptable. Clean. Needs definitely refurbishment. Internet needs to be paid for !! (we live in 2013). Pool available.
The restaurant was excellent though and deserved for me a special entry in trip advisor.

When traveling from Katherine to Broome, you do have few choices to stay. Fitzroy River Lodge is not that bad place, except for the bugs. The powered site is very big, and you can choose which you like. Not too many people at this moment. Kitchen is quite big with a TV on its wall.

At the back of the park, it is totally a wildlife park, where you can see lots of kangaroos and wallabies. They will not disturb you, please don't disturb them either.

Except for the bugs everywhere on the lawn, this is a good campground at this part of Aus.

BTW, they have a pub and restaurant at reception.

Stayed at the lodge for 2 weeks for work, in a safari tent which was quite satisfactory.
Friendly staff, cold beer, great meals - especially the pizzas.
No problem recommending to anyone who wants to experience the crossing.
One suggestion - would be good to see some local Aboriginal staff.
