The Ski Club of Victoria has two lodges: the Whitt which is more upmarket, has restaurants, serves breakfast and has en-suite rooms; and the Khandahr, a typical lodge accommodation with shared facilities. We stayed in the Whitt.
The staff are brilliant: experienced, mature, and helpful. Importantly they run a very tight and highly professional operation. We couldn't fault them.
The best aspect of the Whitt is its location, right across the road from the Ski School and kids center. Believe me with a 5, 3 and 1 year old you do not want to stay in the Village Square or anywhere where that requires walking on gradient with little kids, a wriggling toddler and gear, especially when you have three. You can literally walk out of the Whitt and across the slope to the Ski School, Ticket Office and Creche, so easy.
They do have carparking on site but the fees are calculated by the Alpine Board and are expensive. The over snow is so easy, they take your gear to the front door.
At the Whitt breakfast is included in your tariff in their lounge room. ( high chairs are available) there is a nice assortment of food and kids can make their own pancakes!). The restaurants and bars serve good food too.
The Whitt has all the facilities you would expect, drying room, ski storage etc. There is a games room on site but this is really suitable for older kids, 6 years plus. Unfortunately It is so hard to find any accommodation on the mountain that really caters for the needs of pre-schooler which is frustrating. There are a couple of playgrounds around but it can be a struggle to amuse those aged under 3 years. No toy rooms.
We stayed at the Whitt during one of their SCV specials and the price was quite affordable for our family. We were there for 5 nights. If you do stay at the Whitt I think that it is best to become a member because if you stay there twice during the year it is better value. We regretted not joining as members.
Our room was very nice, it has a double, a set of bunks and a trundle. It was fairly tight for three preschoolers given their need for space so we upgraded to include the adjoining room. If your kids are older then the size of the room is not a problem. Great views to Mt.Stirling. Everything is set out so logically. Rooms serviced daily. We had a kitchenette so we were able to cook the remainder of our meals although we ate out a few times. It was a bit tight for the 5 of us around the table but we managed.
