After reading on trip advisor that this was rated number one of places to eat in Ararat, we thought we'd try here. I can only base my review on our food which was pretty ordinary. My husband ordered the lemon calamari which came in a large bowl, quite a generous serving and very tender. However, it had little flavour and was popped on top of some lettuce leaves and red onion with 5 slices of cucumber decorating the bowl. I ordered the entree crispy tempura fish on crispy noodles with sweet chilli sauce. I received about six fish nuggets (frozen packet?) sitting on top of some pre fried packet flat crispy noodles with bottled sweet chilli sauce drowning it all. To be fair, it was all very crispy but for $16 for an entree I expected just a little more TLC. We ordered at 5.55 pm, received our meals at 6.05pm and were out the door by 6.20pm. However, the service staff were all lovely and we couldn't deny that service was very quick! On returning to our hotel where there is a resident Chinese Restaurant, (Candles, rated no 2 in Ararat) the car park was full and the restaurant was overflowing. The smell from the dining room suggested that this might have been a better option!
