I have always been a fan of Barossa Valley Brewing's 'Bee Sting' beer, so we stopped in for lunch when in Tanunda. The brewery offers a beer tasting course as well as tapas and pizza.
On the beers, a couple of them were very nice (bee sting and organic ale in particular). However, several of them were an exercise in masochism, with ridiculously silly quantities of hops tipped into the brew to the point where the beer was borderline undrinkable. While some may regard this as 'boutique', in my view it simply lacks sophistication and subtlety.
The food was very good, however. The pizza had a great base and good, balanced toppings made from local ingredients. The 'tapas' (a nice olive plate and some french fries) were solid too, although we did get served an extra plate of one item and it was unclear to us whether we'd mistakenly been charged twice for it.
Service could be better, as other reviews have said, but it was nothing too bad. Several people working there appeared almost totally unfamiliar with the beer and food menus, which was odd.
