“Great stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

Large car park area for check in parking. Met by welcoming staff at office. Got to shady, grassed powered caravan site near a freshly renovated and clean ablution block and laundry. Good BBQ / camp kitchen with full kitchen facilities area and great playground area for kids. The second ablution block is also clean but decor a bit dated. Park is located close to town centre and access via a stairway at rear of park, though not suited to wheelchairs. Saturday night was a free movie night at the park stage area. Would stay here again.

This is a really lovely site in this attractive region, the greeting we got on arrival was very friendly and the people most helpful. There was plenty of space on the motor home powered pitches and the amenities are excellent. We thought it was very good value and one of the best sites we went on in our three weeks in a motor home.

When we arrived with our small caravan and dog the park looked reasonably spacious and well laid out with sparkling facilities and we were quite impressed. Later that day, more and more vans arrived until we were surrounded by campers & people on all sides and oh so close to us, and yet the park was only 1/3rd full! All that space over there and not a van on it! The van behind us had two little kids who screamed slightly louder than their mother for several hours with such little concern for those surrounding them that the older couple next to them moved to the other side of their van seeking some refuge - it was sad to watch. Most people's dogs behave better than that. Why don't proprietors think about the comfort and peace of the clients and give them room to breathe if it's not peak times?
We left and moved on to the Kapunda Caravan Park where peace and quiet abound and it's only 30 minutes further on.

I was very glad to hear that you were impressed by our park & its facilities when you initially checked in, but very disappointed that your experience went downhill as a result of some noisy neighbours.
We take great pride in being one of the few parks left in the state that has grassed sites & we take great care to maintain them for our guests to enjoy. Unfortunately this can, on occasion, & particularly after the busy times, lead to the circumstances you have described with areas having to be put on maintenance, so that watering, mowing & resting the sites can occur. This year we have laid new lawn to the prime tourist areas in the park & after a particularly busy September & October we were trying to rest the sites before the last two weeks of November when it returns to peak time.
I am very sorry that you experienced having yelling children nearby, but wish you would have contacted our office so that we could help you by either talking with the other guests, or moving them or yourselves to another site.
I'm glad you enjoyed Kapunda & hope that you will return on another occasion to visit our park again.

We just spent a great weekend at the park... It's well positioned, clean a different the staff were very friendly. Our kids loved the jumping cushion and kicking the footy on the huge grased area. Highly recommended and we will be back

We stayed at Tanunda tourist park over the long weekend. We had just bought a caravan and this was our first trip in it. Easy drive thru site, grassy and shady. The kids walked and rode their bikes easily back and forward to the jumping pillow. The pool was lovely and clean a bit too cold for me to go in though. Amenities were modern plenty of hot water and cleaned regularly. If other people staying cleaned up after themselves it would have beef cleaner but that's not the parks fault. The outdoor movies were fantastic. Overall a great, relaxing family weekend away.

Couldn't book online (third party site) because we were travelling with small children (and the system kept inisitng that we had too many people, so we sent an email, and had a response that evening that clearly articulated what was available and for how much. Check in was relatively quick, and we were pleasantly surprised that it was even closer to the town (and the Barossa Valley Brewery) than we had expected (although it was uphill, and getting a pram out the back exit of the park was simply not an option). The cabins were relatively cheap, clean (and reasonably new) and the park was great for the kids - from chasing rabbits around to bouncing around on the air pillow. The cabins were a little small - although you don't go on holidays to spend time in the cabins and we had some small issues with hot water (the tap was the wrong way around, and the hot water took forever to heat) and the water pressure.

Would definitely stay again on our next visit to the Barossa!
