TANUNDA HOTEL APARTMENTS
Tanunda is a beautiful little town in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. It has an abundance of little interesting little shops, vineyards creating some of Australia’s best wines, a fantastic Performing Arts Centre, one of the best German Wurst House and Bakery in Australia and the Tanunda Hotel Apartments.
The apartments are off the main road, in the centre of town. They are the only accommodation smack bang in town, and they are fabulous. Admittedly, there is no view of anything at all pretty, unless a dirt car park and the back of a pub are your thing, but may I say this- you will not want to be staying your room in Tanunda all that much. There is so much to see and do that you will probably spend very little time in your apartment. When you do come home after a tiring day of being driven around the local wineries, eating the local food and gazing at the sunset, this is the place you want to come home to.
I had Apartment 1. I walked in and was greeted by a full, modern kitchen, full size fridge, hotplate and microwave. Next, was the beautiful king size bed, great television, and a lounge. The bathroom is spacious and complete with a huge shower and (I know this sounds childish) a huge shower head- one of those shower heads that make you feel as if you are standing in the rain, and a huge spa bath. I am not a huge spa bath fan, only because I once had a ‘Twilight Zone’ moment and fell asleep in a spa and awoke just as I was about to be covered with bubbles and I thought I was being consumed by a weird cloud, but if you love spas, this one is a goody.
I have to say, though, the clincher for me (no surprise), was the bed. No ‘two beds pushed together’ here. Just one big, beautiful mattress, luscious sheets and incredible pillows. As someone who loves getting up early in the morning to take photos of sunrises and early morning wildlife, this bed was not going to let me go easily. I compromised- I went out one morning and stayed in on another. Both mornings were delicious.
This is a great place to stay. By far the most superior accommodation in the township of Tanunda, and so close to everything the town has to offer.
