Driving into Robe, the Motel was visible on the left, on a ridge beyond the Lake and looked quite imposing, just how I had seen it on the website. But, as we got close to it, I was not so impressed because it looked like any other motel with concrete, holiday camp style accommodation blocks and a scruffy car park. But, once we went into to the room, we were pleasantly surprised. It didn't quite match up to the pictures on the web site (which I think were taken in the luxury apartments) but the furniture was similar. It was a big room, with a double and a single bed, table and chairs, a long work surface all along one wall with microwave, sink, fridge, TV and enough crockery and cutlery for three people. The bathroom was small and only had a small window, but had a powerful shower and was clean.
There was a door at the back of the unit that led onto a terrace which had a table and chairs, and a beautiful view over the Lake, with a grass area leading down to it.
The guy in reception was friendly, told us of some good restaurants (one of which we tried) and we were given some milk when we arrived.
In comparison to other places to stay in Robe, the other motels all looked very similar from the outside. Some are nearer to the beach; this one is further out of town. But, it is away from traffic noise (not that there is much traffic in Robe) and the early morning view over the Lake, with nothing but birdsong to bother us was very pleasant as we ate our breakfast on the terrace.
