“lovely winter escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

I bought a two night stay for the pay office using an internet deal and I must commend the staff who were really friendly and ameniable, especially when i had to rebook! The cottage was lovely, small but had everything you needed. Our fireplace was even set up ready to go on our first night and the staff had put on the r/c heating for our arrival.
The food provisions were plentiful and covered a choice for hot cooked breakfast, cereal or toasts and jams etc.
In terms of value for money this was excellent although i am not sure how much it would have been full price. we didnt eat at the winery but the wine we had was fantastic and will definately return. thank you for a great stay

Room Tip: pay office was small but fine for two - but no more!

We stayed at the Pay Office Cottage, located within Reillys Wines in Mintaro for 2 nights. Being a self-contained B&B, the studio-style room had a bed, small dining/side table, fully-stocked kitchenette, small TV (not very good reception, if TV is important to you), fireplace and ensuite. The breakfast was pre-provided in the fridge, and we were given generous portions of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and some herbs for hot breakfast we could prepare ourselves. For a continental breakfast, there were mini packets of cereals, milk and juice.

It had a very cosy feel to the place and the room had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The only downside is the general size of the room, especially the bed, which is very small by most standards. If you were a couple of 6 footers, maybe this room isn't for you. There are 2 more choices of semi-detached cottages at the Reilly Wines vineyard, which is slightly more spacious, although not free standing like this one.

The cellar door is just steps away and the Magpie and Stump just a across the road for an afternoon drink or a meal. Mintaro is about 15 mins drives to the town centre of Clare but its definitely worth giving this place a go. Its picturesque, charming and relaxing.

Room Tip: If you are a very tall or large couple, Pay Office might not be for you as the size is pretty small...
