“Highly recommend for your Wedding & Reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

We chose Lyndoch Hill for our Wedding and Reception. If I was going to do it all again I would have no hesitation about re-booking. From the very first phone contact the Events planner, Emma was friendly, efficient and easy to contact. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere full of fun and love, and we certainly got it! There were no 'hiccups' all the details were in place and we had a totally stress free day. We were not the average bride and groom, being both our 2nd wedding, and had many ideas for the day and bypassed many of the 'usual' traditions. Emma ensured the day was exactly how we had envisioned it, turning our ideas into reality. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The food (we had Cocktail service) was excellent and plenty of it! We had a few guests with high allergy needs and these were all met and handled in a sensitive manner. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and our photographers were thrilled with the opportunities for shots. As a few reviewers have commented, the rooms are dated, but they are clean and contain everything you require. The buffet breakfast is worth getting out of bed for! Our guests still rave about the reception, how the food was delicious and so plentiful and the staff so helpful and efficient. Emma was always available, quietly directing the day, ensuring everyone was happy. Our day was full of fun, laughter and love and I cant imagine that anywhere else would have met our needs and dreams for Our Day any better.

We celebrated our daughter and son in laws wedding at the Barossa Chateau on 29-03-2014 in the barrel room and from commencement of planning 13 months ago until the end of the wedding day Mandy and her staff were absolutely amazing, their attention to service and satisfaction were faultless. Nothing was ever any trouble..feedback and concerns/queries we're handle as quickly as possible and professionally.
The room was beautifully set up and nothing was too much trouble when it came to accommodating us. The staff were very attentive and efficient on the day and food and service was above and beyond our expectations. We did not want for anything.
Yes the rooms were not modern and up to date but they we're clean and had all the basic requirements of a hotel. It was not about the hotel for us but provided a place to lay our heads after a perfect day!
Once again THANKYOU Mandy, Mark and the wonderful staff.

We booked our accommodation at Lyndoch Hill after browsing through pictures on their website and due to it's close proximity to the wineries we wanted to visit in the Barossa. I must say the pictures of the accommodation on the website don't match the real thing. We booked to stay in one of the houses instead of the standard motel rooms - it was only $20 extra to have the 3 bedroom house a opposed to the small motel room so we thought why not. Unfortunately the house wasn't what we were expecting - we thought we would be staying in a beautiful country house - but what we got wasn't as beautiful as we had imagined and was more of a basic suburban house as opposed to the country style and charm we expected. The bathroom especially was in need of a renovation and the water pressure in the shower was almost non existent. Actually finding the house was difficult too as the signage / numbering was poor - even with the map we were given we still had trouble.

To top things off - we were sitting in the house in the afternoon and suddenly a mouse scurried by through the living room! Eek - this was definitely not what we were expecting. Although to their credit - they did send someone over straight away to set some traps and they brought us a complimentary bottle of wine - but the fact that the house had a mouse in it in the first place really put us off. They did offer for us to change into a motel room - but we had already unpacked and had dinner cooking and we were only staying for one night - so we let it go.

On the plus side the house had a full kitchen and laundry - so we were able to cook ourselves a lovely meal and get a few big loads of washing done which was appreciated. Although the property has beautiful rose gardens - we would look to stay elsewhere on our next trip to the Barossa.

The advertising is very misleading. The reality is an old roadside motel with little privacy, overpriced food, and the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in! If you enjoy all the above and like paying a premium for it than this is your spot. If you are looking for a romantic weekend in one of the best wine regions in the world than avoid Lyndoch Hill.

We went to Lyndoch Hill for a long weekend and stayed in the Merlot House. It was clean and tidy and the staff were informative of places to see and if we needed anything to let them know. Beautiful rose gardens and walking paths everywhere! We visited the Barossa Chateau and were not disappointed. Stunning!
BUT OMG THE RESTAURANT! My husband and I ate both nights at the restuarant and were just amazed at the service and menu. The food was delicious. Each dish was full of flavours that did not overwhelm each other and cooked to perfection. Start to finish this was an amazing journey of meals I will be going back to eat for sure! Thank you to the staff for a most wonderful stay! We will be back!

We were disappointed with the poor quality of our room. It was in desperate need of refurbishment. Decor very dated. The bathroom basin was all cracked and it was not a good idea to look behind the toilet! The level of accommodation was different to what was portrayed in the advertising. Out view of the garden would have been better if the windows were clean which they weren't. The pool was cold and looked dirty and despite the heat no-one was using it.

We had also read reviews on this website that crossed the whole spectrum from good to bad. So we went in with an attitude of its what you make of it.
Our room rate included continental breakfast, which was all we wanted after the excesses of Christmas.
Staff were very friendly, rooms are of motel style, but work has been done to update them.
It was too hot for the roses, but I can see that a lot of work is being undertaken to bring them to their full potential.
I did over hear two couples complaining about noisy guests that were close to their room and partied until late, but inconsiderate guests are unfortunately the luck of the draw and being in a motel style, there would have been no escape, but it is still something that night staff need to be on top of.
The pool came in very handy as it was very hot when we were there. The tour van picked us up from the reception area, which was very convenient.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it far exceeded our expectations, the meal was lovely and modern and highlighted local and housemade produce, we were very impressed.

Overall we had a lovely time, we weren't there to be waited on hand and foot, we were there to see the local area. But having this place to come back to that was clean, airconditioned, had a pool and provided great meals with a lovely view as well as friendly staff, We were happy with our stay.
