It would be difficult to fault this place. The restaurant is in a brilliant setting in the Jacob's Creek vineyard and in an architect designed building that doesn't need to shout or prove anything and this extends to every aspect of the meal. It didn't hurt that it was a blue sky warm day, so we stepped outside at the suggestion of the waitress who then remained with us for the meal. She helped when needed and was a watching 'ghost' who refilled glasses, prompted desert and anticipated coffee - we didn't even need to ask for the bill!
The food selection was great - pizzas for large groups, kids or picky teenagers, share platters, great entrees which we unfortunately missed and went straight for the Black Angus eye fillet and a bottle of white - it was lunch and we were driving. The steak was generous and really well cooked and topped with an olive tapenade and served with a small tartlet filled with pumpkin.
It doesn't exactly cry out for a recipe book nor does it test the skills of the chef but to produce this with assurance and competence it speakes tomes. And anyway, we had been eating on holidays for 6 days and what we wanted was honest, well presented food and this exceeded our expectations.
Excellent coffee and petit fours finished off a great lunch.
This place is not out to prove anything - it just knows what it is doing and does it very well.
