“A few improvements required”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

The hosts were exelent and made us all vey welcome upon arrival. We had three rooms, one for my wife and I, one for my dauhter and one for my son who was visiting from the U.K. We had kindly been upgraded to king-sized rooms at no extra cost for which we were very pleased with. The only negative comments they I would make is that the rooms were somewhat "tired" and the carpets either needed a thorough clean to remove many stains or replaced. The bed-spreads were well past "thier sell-by date" and had very little colour left in them. The creek had been drained by the local coulcil for cleaning so there were no water views available (no fault of the Burra Motor inn I hasten to add). The location is superb close to the town for pubs etc., and the in-house Jumbuck Restaurant served exellent food. Being off season the spa pool heater had not been tuned on so after a long day out visiting the local sights it was a bit dissapointing when we took a plunge to find it cold. The follwoing day we asked for for it to be turned on and by the time that we returned it was nice and warm to relax in. So all in all a pleasant stay but the rooms do need a bit of attention.

The Burra Motor Inn is a great place to stay. The peace and quiet is what first impressed me, along with the clean and well appointed rooms. Great king size bed.

The very best thing about this Motor Inn would have to be the hosts. They are fantastic to spend time with. The guys are very happy to share information about the varied tourist attractions throughout the area and nothing is too difficult or too much trouble for them.

They also have a great restaurant which is packed full of wonderful Aussie memorabilia. The train stuff is GREAT.

A lovely place to stay.

The room was clean and comfortable, but looked very tired. TV screen was so small! The ensuite bathroom badly needs a makeover - very outdated fittings, cracked tiles. Advertized as having water views (stream) from room, but no flow. Locals told us that it had not flowed for years. But it is close to town and the main copper mining heritage site (about midway).

Thank you for your review, Bryan. We are pleased to hear that you liked our central location 400m from the town centre, and our clean comfortable rooms. We are constantly working to improve our property, and In the coming weeks the carpark will be resurfaced. Whilst there are a few minor issues with a couple of the en suites, the feedback we usually receive is that our en suites are very clean and presentable and that the showers are great.

We promote our location as being tranquil or picturesque with an abundance of bird life. Although we don't promote it as a water view, the creek usually does have water in it. The Goyder Council published on their website on 2nd October, 2013 that "The draining of the Burra Creek has commenced to allow for maintenance and cleaning" and that the work is programmed to be completed by March 2014, at which time the water will return to the creek.

The bird life remains in abundance, and we hope you can return one day soon to see the water views.

Clean, comfortable, and spacious room featuring a couch and small table with two chairs. The room could have used a power point closer to the table however as I had to string my lap top's power cord up and over the television cabinet to plug it in. It's also worth noting that the proprietor appears to enforce the 'no check-ins until after 2:00 pm rule' quite strictly. I arrived at approximately 12:30 pm and was told to come back later. Thankfully the local public toilets were nearby, easily found, and relatively clean. The only other issue, if you can call it that, was the fact that the restaurant is only open from Monday to Thursday which I found very odd - not sure why this is the case. Despite this fact however, the quality of their food was quite good and I would definitely eat there again.

Pretty disappointing for the cost. TV was minute. Went to have a swim and pool was out of action. Went to order breakfast at 7.50pm and manager stated that as there weren't many orders, they wouldn't engage the cook. For $121 we expected all facilities to be available. This was our first night of holidays on teh way to Q ld and was the most disappointing. Outlook to creek below was overgrown and messy and nothing outside the motel room door had been swept for a while as there was anaccumulation of leaves, dust and even a couple of cigarette butts. Suggest they need to lift their game a bit. We won't return.

Room Tip: Nothing wrong with the rooms but pretty average service & facilities.

Thanks for the review, Andy & Bronwyn. You clearly identified the few issues we have been addressing - the council has commenced a clean-up of the creek area, and the problems with the pool dosing unit resolved.

Whilst we do our best to keep the leaves and dust under control and clean the footpaths and car park area on a daily basis (and pickup up cigarette butts that don't make it into the ashtrays provided), we were contending with wind gusts of up to 74km/h at the time you were staying here.

We are proud to present a clean and comfortable AAAT rated 3½ star property that features clean, modern, comfortable rooms. In future refurbishments the television sets will be upgraded to a size more in line with what we have all grown used to at home to complement the 60+ channels currently provided.

When you approached with your breakfast order, I jovially remarked about having just cancelled the cook as we didn't have any breakfast orders and offered to make you breakfast myself.

You can't ask for much more when staying in a little country town like Burra - the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the rooms are very clean. Staff are really friendly and breakfast was delicious, but as we went up on a weekend the Jumbuck's restaurant was not actually open for dinner ( :( sad because I've heard great things about their beef snittys) - although the decor in the restaurant is amazing! There is also spa and a pool which we used before we headed home. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Stayed the night at Burra Motor Inn so didn't spend much time there. Motel in need of some re-furnishing. Beds pretty ordinary and with the smallest TV's you'll ever see. I'd stay again but that's because I know how bad the rooms in the pubs are!
