“Close to the beach, plenty of space, good facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Great location as you can walk onto a quite beach. Plenty of space under the trees to spread yourself out. But the prime positions down near the beach do fill up quickly. Good clean facilities inc showers for use. Pretty much everything you need to look for in a camp ground.

Room Tip: If you can get by the beach you ae doign well

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We camped from Thursday 15 November - Saturday 17 November. Originally planned to stay until Sunday; however, we chose to pack up and depart based on storm predictions.

This was our first time to North Stradbroke Island and based on advice from friends, we chose to camp at Adder Rock near Point Lookout. Their advice hit the spot!!!! We chose a spot near the beach; yes, somewhat unprotected, however you are rewarded with direct views across to Moreton and wonderful expanse of shore to stroll and relax.

The facilities were well maintained by the new Ranger who was quite resourceful in answering a wide array of questions about fishing, surf conditions and RAIN.

All in all... Straddie is a special place. Do visit Brown Lake and do not forget collect your rubbish.

Enjoy!!

Really great amenities, friendly staff and the beach is magnificent!!!! We come here twice a year every year and have done so for the past 4 years... Very kid friendly! Keep in mind though peak times esp Christmas and Easter are fully packed and if you're not a fan of being close to your camping neighbours then not an ideal time to come.

Had a great time at Straddie and the very nice people at the camp site made it better. We got there a bit early and the friendly lady at the entrance let us set up camp. Lots of space although all the beach front sites were taken. Only gripe being the toilets and showers not in great condition. Needs a bit of a makeover and supply of proper poo paper.

First time campers on Straddie. We had an unpowered site. On arrival we were given helpful advice by staff, on where to camp ~ Either lovely shaded grass areas or right on the beach. We stayed in "Paperbark Place", its ideal. Really close proximity to beautiful beaches,- a 2 minute walk to Flinders or Home Beach. We all had a great time, the kids loved it here, everyone was really friendly. Showers & toilets were cleaned once a day, childrens playgrounds, laundry facilities & wood campfires onsite aswell. .

Couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer. We've stayed at Adder Rock a couple of times & plan to return again next month. It's a fantastic place for family camping, with shady sites close to the ocean and (on our last visit) a huge, safe, swimming lagoon on the beach. The cooking/washing/showering facilities are good too. The road is quite a way from the camp sites & we haven't heard any traffic noise. I can imagine it gets very busy & possibly noisy during school holidays but we've always found the other campers here, particularly groups of young men on fishing/surfing trips. to be incredibly courteous.
