We've dined at the Bistro at the Stradbroke Island Hotel, on our regular annual family holiday over the past three years, and all we can say after this last visit was "What the heck happened to the place?". The Bistro went from table service and a nice fresh menu, to pub based table buzzer service. You have to get for drinks from the bar over the other side of the hotel and carry them down to your table. At our most recent visit, when we discovered that things had changed, the staff member who took us to our table did not even give us menus, nor tell us how the new system worked. It was only when the table beside us was seated 10 minutes later by another staff member, and filled in accordingly. I then went up to the counter and had to ask what the go was, only to be told by a disinterested staff member, that things had changed.
We returned for breakfast another day, and went to order off the breakfast member, only to be told that they were not serving from that menu today, and it was only buffet, and that was ordinary and overpriced to say the least!
I can accept change, if there is adequate communication and a welcoming inspired atmosphere to compensate. There was neither.
