“LARCing ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

.... is a pleasant way to enjoy an hour on the water in the late afternoon light. We are regular visitors to Agnes Water/1770 and nearly always do this late afternoon ride. It is relaxing on the water, usually one stop to get out and have a few minutes on the sand; with a knowledgeable tour guide making it interesting as well as fun, a variety of wildlife, particularly birds to spot ..... sometimes the tides create quite a sandbank mid estuary and going off that on the LARC is a blast!

“Unique & wildlife galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

Did the all day LARC tour up to Bustard Head. Unique & memorable tour, got to see a part of Australia that would otherwise be inaccessible. Saw plenty of wildlife - sharks, dolphins, birds of prey & stingrays. Tip - bring polarised sunnies for spotting the sea life as they really help. Also bring light jumper or jacket as was a bit chilly on the drive up the beach despite it being a warm day. The LARC guys really care about the environment and are passionate about conservation. Please be aware that this is a long day and the journey on the LARC lasts several hours so bring some snacks. Morning & avo tea & lunch is provided but it may not be enough food for large appetites. Sandboarding was a highlight and lots of fun for kids & adults. Also note kids under age of 8 cannot go inside the Bustard Head lighthouse due to OH&S. Our little boy was very dissapointed unfortunately.

“The boat with wheels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

We went with the entire family ranging from ages 6 to 70 and EVERYONE had a blast!! Be prepared to get wet and have plenty of laughs! Our tour guide, Matt, was very professional, informative and just down right funny! He certainly made our sunset trip fantastic! The tour was laid back (no serious time constraints) and you can BYO food and drinks for a mid-tour break on the beach. Next time, I'd like to go for the day tour!

“An Amphibious Secret”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Look left, look right, nothing in sight. Only sand, water, trees and one lone cow. Not a skerrick of civilization as far as the eye can see.

This is a moment everyone should have the opportunity to experience and is made possible through the 1770 lark tours.

Your journey follows a path from the mainland to the water, then to a secluded island just off the point where Captain Cook discovered of Australia, Middle Island. First time Lark rider Glen Stevenson said the boat ride wasn’t for him as he’s not fond of boats, but upon reaching the destination, he realised it was worth it.

Once you reach the island a sensation of isolation and pure contentment overcomes you as the lark makes its way along the deserted beach toward the Bustard head light house.
Lift your head up and feel the fresh sea breeze whip through your hair as the lark begins to climb the rugged path towards the headland.

Half way up the hillside, the lark comes to a halt, and for good reason, for turn your head and open your eyes. Feel the sensation of colours hitting you all at once. The sand, the water, the bush, the waves, the dunes, the cliffs, the rocks. All of these elements come together to make one perfect picture that will stay with you for the rest of your life. However, I’d still advise you to take a snap or two for there are many more stunning pictures to come to come.

Gradually, the lark begins to creep along though the bush and scrub before bursting out into an open plain on top of a cliff surrounded by the ocean. Now is your chance to open your ears as they cut the lark’s engine. Listen to the abundant wildlife as you are greeted by songs of the native birds.

But someone else comes to welcome you, the infamous lighthouse keeper, Stuart Bucanan. This man is solely responsible to the beautifully restored cabins and lighthouse you see before you.
The lighthouse and cabins became a place of neglect and vandalisation after they was partially destroyed by a fire in 1932. This was until Mr Bucanan decided that enough was enough and began to restore the historic dwellings. Today, the buildings stand tall and proud on the edge of a cliff, guiding home tired sailors.

Why not visit the savior place of many sailors and put the 1770 Lark tours on your bucket list. It’s your time to look left and right, and have Middle Island in sight.

“larc tours 1770”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

We had an awesome experience. It was fantastic to be able to go to an isolated area without having to walk there. This opens opportunities for everyone to be able to see nature and history combined. The tour guides provided interesting information and sometimes in a humorous way. We were fortunate to have a unexpected sunset experience on return which added to a awesome day. Thanks guys. Highly recommend this tour.
