“Not Value for Money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We had a refurbished room?? Can only imagine how bad the rooms still waiting for a makeover looked. Had a bad night sleep thanks to the rattling prehistoric A/C, a leaky toilet and what appeared to be a "cheap as chips" foam matress which was to be about 3 to 4 inches thick.
Im pretty sure the attached restaurant got their" fish of the day" from the motel swimming pool, and even though a nice friendly Irishman spent hours cleaning the spa, we still emerged after 20 minutes with some form of black scum line around our torso's. And all for $120 a night!!!! Must admit the hot water was very hot.

Sure, this motel is still a work in progress but these things take time.... and money ... and dare I suggest Motel operators require an element of loyalty from customers. There are not many customers about these days - rooms empty everywhere!

This is my third time here in a year - the location suits me and to give an honest appraisal, I chose to have the same room.. Number 6...
Cleaner.... fresher but still the white bedspreads... and the damned air conditioner does rattle but with the dim lights outside now brighter - the "house lights" actually are showing the place really is a motel.... Much more acceptable

New manager - an Irishman - he has the right attitude and for this location - I hope he can bring some life back to this place. It is a good location and the price is OK.

This was my second visit and luck would have it, the same room. (6) Older style motel and yes, maybe its seen better days but still a very functional unit. A strangely low bed to the floor and a white bedspread?
Good TV, decent shower and complimentary shampoo. I habitually leave mine somewhere. Importantly a clean unit and with no cigarette smells. Parking at the door...
I did not try their wifi, but it was offered, my Mac found a strong signal, maybe two or three extenders.
Nice pool - clean and shaded and inviting but no time to play. two bath towels - no towels for a swimmer. Pool looked cold!
Breakfast - at extra cost was offered, I thought the prices were actually sensible and pots of coffee at breakfast always appeal to me.
Don't be put off by the closeness of the highway.... vehicle sound is no issue and it makes this motel easy to get to - quicker to get some rest.

I was billed an honest price for an room that offered no grand luxury - it was a fair price for the market in Australia in 2013. I wonder why we expect perfection when we are paying these low rates? I noted on the Pacific highway that some motels charge from as little $55 a night... at those rates, they cant buy many repairs!!!

Room Tip: Room six is in need of a refresh but it suited me... I enjoyed watching the possum in the trees next...

The man at reception was very rude, did not answer one of my questions! I booked into this place specifically for the room service. On the night i rang to order my room service i was told they would not provide me room service, or even cook for me!! They had already booked in set amount for dinner and thats all they were doing. They had a valentines day dinner on... They were cooking for people not even staying there, yet couldnt for people that were! This place was extremely disappointing! The spa and pool were also freezing and dirty, not nice at all. I was unble to use these facilities

The manager was very nice. The sheets and towels were very clean. The carpet was in great need of cleaning as were the corners of the bathroom floor and there was paint litterally falling off of the ceiling in the bathroom. The bedroom had apparently had a picture that had been taken down and the paint all around the space was faded. The drapes were faded out in the strips which were hit by the sun. For the price it was not a great result. I was disappointed and would not go back unless the room I was promised had been refurbished.

Room Tip: Make sure you reserve a room that has been refurbished.

The reception/manager/brekfast cook - we a faabulous person - great breakfast, super interpersonal skills - just lovely.

the room - a 3 bedder, more expensive one - because it was refurbrished.i.e. a coat of paint and some new furniture, including a new bed, great if you were supple and young and liked sleeping very close to the floor - the solid wooden edges found my shin about 3 times moving around the room. the single bed in the room was older and high enough to make getting in and out easy. bedside table non existant for the single bed. Minimal storage space but good bench space. Fridge old and overcold.
1 bath towel per person, but 1 shampoo and conditioner only during 2 nite stay. Aircon very old, noisy, and the air flow director was broken.
No hair dryer, barely enough cups n saucers, glasses for 3 people. Plenty of tea, sugar n cheep coffee. had to fill electric jug from shower - this is a common fault.

Restaurant (run independently) excellent as usual. but the rooms - NAH !

Room Tip: see the rooms first.

Stayed for 1 night to babysit grandchildren. The only clean thing in the room was the linen. Found lollies and wrappings under beds and items in the drawers - cleaning very poor. The shower screen was cracked in various areas on one side. Do not believe that this venue has the correct star rating. The room we stayed in could definitely do with a makeover, very tired!!! TV (old box) reception was very poor. Hired a porta cot which was very very dirty - far from suitable for hire - definitely need a new one; plus had to ask for linen - which was single bed sheeting. Our room was very close to the highway - had the choice of road noise or a noisy aircon - not much sleep!!!!
