We went on a trip with Bay and Island Tours at the beginning of September. The weather was balmy and some of the other tripadites were barmy.
It was brilliant. The boat is very powerful and different. It's the kind of boat you would find doing wheelies up in Airlie Beach or Cannes. Unfortunately the driver only did one wheelie because there was a delicate local councillor on board and he didn't want to upset her. Found out later that she wasn't as delicate as he thought and wanted more.
It was one of the best boat tours we've ever been on. Stopped for an excellent lunch for an hour. Went paddling for a time on the beach at Peel Island and we were taken to all sorts of interesting places.
I'm not the sort of person who enjoys being TOLD all about local history but I did enjoy the wee stories about the area. We were doubly surprised to find out that Peel Island has an amazing history which included a leper colony which was looked after right up until 1951.
All in all a terrific day out and (being a Scottish local) the best thing which has happened in the Redlands area for a long long time.
