Had a lovely stay at cool bananas, the staff were friendly and helpful and made you feel very welcome when arrived. Even though other reviews talk about Greg the manager being crazy, I don't think this place would be quite the same without him! What a character. Lovely and clean, clean the kitchen 3 times a day and have staff cleaning up in the kitchen whilst people are cooking meals! Rooms are clean and tidy and don't smell like damp travellers! Beds are comfy and having a hammock out the front of the door just tops it off! Lounge area is great and free wifi!! That's a luxury whilst your travelling, defiantly worth the money! Thank you!!

A group of us (4) stayed here for 2 nights an I was sad I leave. It's the nicest hostel I stayed in during my 2 years in Australia.

I stayed in an 8 bed dorm. The place is laid back, we weren't even given a key for the bedroom but I felt pretty safe and it was super super clean. I couldn't believe how clean everything was and they had a few nice touches like free tea and coffee.

The only issue I had was our room was over the kitchen and they played the music extremely loud at night til 1am-2am for both weeknights we stayed. Everything else was great.

The owner is a bit loud and eccentric but I found him friendly and very helpful when we had any issues. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Cool bananas was one of the nicest hostels I stayed in during my Australia trip. I stayed for a total of 4 nights in a female dorm. The dorm room was spacious and beds comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and all common areas were kept exceptionally clean.
There was a large indoor lounge area and outside common area which made it really easy to meet other people. Only a short walk to the beach and supermarkets in town.
I would highly recommend this hostel.

The owner, kept on wandering around the place with a grumpy face. speaking super loud and trying to educate all the backpackers. really couldn't stay in the lobby when he was there. I wish he will read this and understand he is the only reason I didn't like the hostel.

apart from that, the facility was great.
nice dinners for cheap. really good food!
was a bit cold in the rooms.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here during an east coast trip.. Hostel was small and cosy however the major thing that let it down was the fact to dorm rooms did not lock and there was no safe to keep any valuables! Which was a massive downside as we both had iPads mobile phones etc. so couldn't really leave anything in the room unattended! There also wasn't any wifi and we had to walk up to the local library and sit outside that to use the internet!

As for Agnes water.. It's a tiny town with not much to do! Only great thing is surf lessons are super cheap compared to the rest of the east coast! We stayed here for 3 nights.. 2 nights to many as we were bored the majority of the time! Also the manager was quite rude and shouted at a staff member as soon as we walked through the door after she had picked us up from the greyhound stop.. Not very professional!

However the hostel was clean and had a relaxed atmosphere and would be ok for a short stopover
