Loved the whole area.Wasn't such a long drive from Darwin as Kakadu. Lots of beautiful waterfalls & waterholes. The termite mounds were fascinating.

“If you're pushed for time, a better option than kakadu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Locals told us Kakadu is "clapped out buffalo country" and to have a look at Litchfield. We did a big loop, in through Batchelor, out through Berry Springs. Heading out to Berry Springs has a fair few kilometres of dirt road, but it was in ok condition for our X-Trail rental. Saw a Getz going the other way, so it's no problem.

Most attractions are quite close to the carparks, it was hot and humid as hell when we were there, so this was good. Didn't want to hike for hours.

They're building a big cafe at Wangi Falls, so that will be good when it's finished.

“Gorgeous !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

If you're in the surroundins of Darwin during the dry season, you cannot miss the Litchfield National park and its Amazing falls. The Florence falls were my favourite, simply fantastic. The Wangi Falls seem to be coming out of a dream or a movie too but a little more touristic due to the close parking area. Go there and have a swim !

So much to see with out having to travel to far, drive in the loop and see spectacular landscapes, beautiful waterfalls and look out for buffaloes, crocs and feral pigs.

“Lovely Litchfield.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Wonderful swimming in a billabong and good to have the security of crocodile checks (I was still a bit scared). Be prepared for mass tourism and I hear they are planning to upscale the development and make it much less of a nature experience. Why would you want a trip to a natural wonder be less natural? Sad.
