“August 2013 - Perfect for young children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We stayed two nights and loved our stay. Jenny was v welcoming and fresh eggs laid in the garden by the resident chicken were delicious! The self-contained unit was v spacious. Fab walk in shower/ wet room. Our two under fives stayed in the adjoining room, screen and curtain meant they slept peacefully, while we enjoyed glass of wine in living room. We'll def be back.

This was a very pleasant experience. Jenny was very hospitable and her husband a fascinating and talkative chap. Excellent room(s), comfortable bed and a very slick bathroom. If you like dogs don't let them keep the Labrador hidden away!

The breakfast was delicious.

Spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very warm and comfortable with masses of space and our own kitchen to brew up in, so we didn't feel as if we were living on top of our hosts. Jenny cooks a terrific breakfast and is full of good ideas for walks and places to see. In her position I would have been aghast when we turned up completely unannounced in the middle of a monsoon, but instead she welcomed us warmly before disappearing into the murk to buy food for breakfast the next day (by the way, it was largely sunny after that!). The house and its lovely garden are in a quiet and sunny position on the edge of a pretty village, with 2 excellent pub/restaurants five minutes' walk away along a quiet lane past thatched cottages. In every way an ideal spot for a relaxing break.

My girlfriend and I stayed for the weekend at the end of September, this place is fantastic. Its location is perfect in that it's a very short walk to the Rock Inn with its great food and ales. The accommodation itself is great. You get an annex to the house to yourself with a little kitchenette, large bedroom, lounge with patio doors out on to the beautiful garden and views. The wetroom shower is brilliant. The breakfasts are really tasty and the cake that Jenny left out to welcome us was a lovely touch. Will stay again definitely.

This was our second family (2 adults & 14yr old son David) visit to Byecross House. Again, we were delighted with the most tranquil location and the quality/cleanliness of the accommodation. Jenny is extremely helpful and considerate freely giving us advice on places to visit during the day and pubs/restaurants to eat in the evening. The breakfast is quite excellent. We stayed for a week and indulged in a full English on 3 mornings. I have truly never seen such wholesome eggs and the mushrooms were extremely tasty. Having free use of the kitchenette enabled our family to eat in on some evenings and it was just brilliant to sit out in the garden to watch the sun slipping down over the horizon. Not a sound to disturb the peace save the seriously free-range hens. Highly recommended!

So often the term disabled access varies from a euphamism to a downright lie, but this is one property that can't fail to impress with it's attention to detail to provide the less mobile with a holiday they will never forget. Jenny's level of service and breakfasts means you never want to leave.

We had a lovely time. A very nice setting and extremely spacious accommodation. Underfloor heating was good especially at this time of the year - it kept it very warm. Good breakfast, fully recommended. Friendly too.
