“Character period cottage, friendly hosts and comfortable accomodation and equipped facilities”

Vale cottage is located just outside croyde main village centre, at most a ten minute walk. My boyfriend and I stayed at the cottage for 4 nights during the Easter half term for a short surfing trip. Every evening we walked into the village for dinner, there is also the Manor pub 5 mins away, which also serves a good dinner.
The couple who own the B & B are lovely, unobtrusive, modest but helpful and informative. They both shared interesting local knowledge about the surf & near beaches and suggested coastal walks and restaurants.
Just up the lane from the cottage a car parking space is provided, and a shower to wash wetsuits, along with storage for boards and to hang wetsuits.
Breakfast is delicious...a standard full english with coffee, tea or juice.
The room was clean and very cosy, a typical country cottage with oak beams and crooked walls.
We have already booked to stay again and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Book the double with additional lounge.

We stayed at Vale Cottage around this time last year and enjoyed it and the surrounding area so much we came back again the other week.

The cottage itself is a traditional Devon longhouse of some hundreds of years old c/w thatched roof and inglenook fireplace. The interior is not 5* hotel but all the better for it. Homely and lived-in is the style which really suits the outdoor pursuits that the area has to offer. The atmosphere is very relaxed and unpretentious. Our suite was spacious and more like a studio flat than a bedroom. Bed was comfortable. Nice toiletries in the shower-room. Everything clean and tidy. As the cottage is just out of the village (but only a couple of minutes walk from village centre) it was incredibly quiet at night so we got very good sleep. Parking easily available either at the end of the garden or across the lane in the church carpark.

The owners, Terri and Chris, are wonderful hosts. Very knowledgeable about the locality, particularly if you enjoy surfing or walking, and are more than willing to lend out maps and share local info and guidance. We certainly appreciated the advice on particular walks to take, of which the area has many of.

The breakfasts were superb. Good choice of cereals and drinks to start. Full English uses quality ingredients in just the right amount. Breakfasts served in the couple's own dining room which gives a nice relaxed start to the day.

Price-wise this B&B is seriously good value for both accommodation and location. We would recommend it to anyone except for families. On that note we wish Chris and Terri all the best for the imminent birth of their child.

We've been coming to Croyde for seven years and, having stayed at most of the B&Bs here, Vale Cottage is our favourite: cosy cottage rooms, friendly and welcoming hosts (with plenty of ideas for walks and trips during your stay), excellent surfer facilities and a chilled atmosphere. The cottage is tucked down a peaceful lane, surrounded by rolling hills and just a few minutes walk from the heart of the village. Instant relaxation!

My husband and I have stayed at Vale Cottage many times. It is comfortable and relaxing and Terri and Chris always make us feel very welcome;it's home from home,in the best possible way.
Terri makes a wonderful cooked breakfast ,even for a veggie like myself and there is always as much cereal , juice, toast and coffee as we can eat and drink , which is quite a bit , as we often get lost in conversation with Terri and Chris whilst eating.
Little touches , like fairtrade teas and coffee and packets of rustic cookies on the guest tray ; up to date magazines by the bed for both surfers (for whom there are good facilities) and their non -surfing other halves ; Terri's super photography on the walls and the lovely old house with the sound of the stream through the open window ,also help to make the stay special.
Great place, which we thoroughly recommend, as long as you don't book our favourite room when we want it !

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Barn which is at the end of the garden at Vale Cottage. The breakfast was amazing, Chris and Terri were both really friendly and easy going. The barn was lovely and secluded with it's own private garden, the only down side was the cockerel next door that woke us up early in the morning- but we were supplied with ear plugs which definitely helped! I thoroughly recommend this B&B and would definitely go back. Croyde itself is lovely and the surf lessons are a must.... I can't wait to get back down there.

We cannot recommend this B&B enough.

A 14th Century Devon cottage with mod cons, but retaining a wonderful old world charm. Chris and Terri are so welcoming, you feel part of the family. Terri's cooked breakfast is the perfect start to the day.

The cottage is perfectly situated, being close to the village centre, but away from the noise.

Excellent facilities for surfers.

We didn't want to leave and we look forward to our return visit.

Having travelled extensively throughout the UK in all types of Hotel and B&B - it is so nice to find such a homely and relaxing overnight stay in a little piece of Heaven that is Croyde!!

The Vale Cottage was outstanding; homely yet modern with wifi and digital TV. The light sound of a running steam outside was so relaxing and the breakfast was to die for!!

Being 800m out of town it was so peaceful and relaxing - just what is needed in this stressful world!! Plenty of free parking and in Chris and Terri and excellent host couple that are so very well informed.

Great for Couples and families with a fabulous shower to relax after spending time on the beach!!

I can't wait to go back - please please please give it a go!!!
