This is by far the worst place have ever been in my entire life, and I have been to a lot of places. Everything was closed and we had to pay for a lot of the facilities and some of the food and drink even though we had paid for an all inclusive holiday. The food was absolutly sickening! There was very little choice and the same thing was served every day. There was a choice of 9 trays which were mirrored on the opposite side. 4 of the trays were salad, 1 pork, 1 potatoes, 1 rice and the rest was fish. This was the same day after day! Everything was undercooked and swimming in fat, it was absolutly revolting, I wouldnt expect a dog to et the food they served. The rooms were clean but small, we had 4 adults sleeping in childens beds which were 4ft long and the hotel staff would not change them although we had paid for 4 adult beds. We had also paid for 2 double rooms but were given a 4 person family room instead, whene we complained the staff said there is nothing they can do about it as the hotel was full, they made no effort to accomodate us for what we had paid for! The walls were so thin, we could hear the people 3 rooms away from us being sick and we were woken up several times during the night. The indoor pool was 3ft deep througout and very small and unclean. Their was long, dark hairs and sick in the pool for 2 days, we had to request the pool be cleaned. The outdoor pool was freezing cold but clean. The staff, particularly the cleaners were very rude and arrogant The cleaner was abusive towards my cousin and auntie when she woke them and shouted at them to get out of bed, she then told them to leave the room or she wouldnt clean, they cleaned once a day and it was at 7am every morning. The majority of the guests were French and they were extremely arrogant and quite aggresive. One woman spat at my uncle in the dinner hall and another shouted at my younger brother making him cry because he pressed a button in the lift. The view from the room was a dirty, stained wall with a road above it where the locals would walk past and look in as if you were in a fish bowl, there was absolutly no privacy at all.
We had also paid for 2 trips which were both cancelled and the only explanation we got was that there were not enough people on the trip. You have to pay 5 euros a day to use the safety deposit box in your room which is a disgrace. This hotel was supposed to be a 4* but it was more like a 1* at best. I would strongly advise against any family holiday in this resort or hotel as there is nothing for children there at all. Beleive what the reveiws say.....it is a dumping ground!!
We even tried to get flights home 3 days after arriving but were unsucessful as there were so many of us. We were food and sleep deprived all week and couldnt wait to leave and go home. We ate out when we could but half of the town wasn't open and the other half was expensive so some of us couldn't afford to eat out every night especially after paying for a 4* All Inclusive hotel. I went with 17 others including family and friends ranging from age 10 to 78 and we all agreed that this was the worst hotel and the worst holiday we had ever been on. Lorret De Mar is definatley a never again experience. I will never forget the worst week of my life as being the week i turned 21.

After reading reviews on various websites i was uncertain about what to expect, but
we were very pleased with what we found at the Royal star. The hotel is a typical
spainish hotel, all the staff were fine, friendly and good at their jobs, the hotel was spotless and the bedrooms were cleaned every day to a very good standard. The food
was good, not brilliant, there was always a good choice and something for me and my two sons every meal time, you have to remember that your not at the ritz. The bar service is excellent too, as was the indoor pool . I found the laundry very useful, and it was all free including the washing powder.

All in all a fantastic hotel for the average price being paid, you will always get people
moaning and complaining , just remember before you book if its what your looking for
"a Typical well run 1970's spainish hotel ",

Will go back again without a doubt, brilliant for a cheap get away and break

the hotel in itself was fine, clean, bit dated although the bedroom did smell rather foisty. we arrived monday just gone (16th), some of the staff were friendly while some rather arrogant and ignorant once they realised we were english. we first went in the dinner hall as we arrived just as lunch was being served, everything was watery and looked under cooked. as it was chilly outside we went in search of the indoor pool, there are no locker rooms or towels provided so you have to walk through the hotel in your swimwear, the pool is so shallow there were a few injuries when people, mainly kids jumped in, the jacquzzi was baltic and i mean freezing cold, a spanish lady, and i use this term lightly, expected us to get out so that she could have the whole thing to herself, she was very welcome to it. we went in search after getting changed for things to do, there was nothing, the whole town is closed up, the paper shop we were told opens an hr a day out of season and doesnt stock many english papers anyway. i was told the kids clubs were unsuitable for my two boys as my 16yr old wasnt allowed in the adult club although i had paid for it before hand and my 14yr old was too old for the childrens club. the table tennis table was out of order because someone lost the ball, the so call arcade was so dated that half the things didnt work and people used the machines to put drinks on. that left nothing for my boys to do at all, they resorted to buying a bat and ball, putting their beds together for a net and playing in the bedroom. i like to phone my hubby of an evening as he couldnt come on this hol with us this time, three phones in the hotel, two were full and the staff refused to empty them and the other was just for emergencies. the computers constantly crashed and the hotel staff refused to compensate as they couldnt say how long the computer had been on for. in short it was horrendous, the worst place i have ever been, i went on the monday and by the tuesday night i had booked a flight home for today (wednesday 18th) and we were not the only ones, once word had got out a few more people jumped on the band wagon and booked to get out too. before i went to lloret i read every review that was available and i went with an open mind, this holiday cost me a small fortune and i have never been so disappointed in my life and what upset me more was the disappointment on my two boys faces. i will never book lloret ever again.

Me and my husband have just returned from the royal star after a short break, hotel was reasonably clean though rooms were basic which wasn,t a problem, what was a problem was the food. Never in my life have I tasted such a load of rubbish. Yes I am well travelled and have been to many hotels around the world from 3 star to 5 star but the food that was on offer b/fast dinner and evening meal was apalling. Nothing was anywhere near hot, what we did eat we had to reheat in microwave, food wasn;t cooked properly for example chicken with blood in it, eggs witch were uncooked on top, leftovers from previous day made into something else, usually battered. On one occaision I found a large piece of wire in my food, thank god I had it and not a toddler. I am a qualified chef and know the dangers of undercooked food and food that isn,t up to a core temprature, If I had taken my children with me there is no way on this earth I would have let them eat any of this rubbish for fear of them getting food poisoning. Yes you do get what you pay for I agree, but who pays for food poisoning. I have never had any complaints before about the food in other hotels though it hasn,t always to my taste it has always been cooked properly. I have read the reviews fom other people who said the food was good, I can only think that they were staying in a completly different hotel or the have no pallette. My advice if you go to this hotel go self catering.

  • Liked — only staying for four days and not two weeks

Just back from the Royal Star , did not know what to expect after reading reviews , i travelled with my husdand, son for 8 and parents. We thought the hotel was very clean staff were great , food was ok, u get what u pay for, something for us all to eat , my son found something every meal to eat , we did eat out twice out on five but that was our choice, I think the only thing that let the hotel down was the drunks, we meet lovley people on your break but some people do not know when to stop ( we all like a drink and a laugh) 0n our last night i had to leave the bar as a group of woman started to show of their bums not what i want my son to see ( that was only at 9 0 clock ) that night there was a fight in our landing with the same group of woman . but who is to blame the hotel for allowing them to continue to drink or us british who do not know when to stop.If it was not for this we would have loved our stay .
