I went to Hotel Selvamar On A Trip
And It was dull and had nothing to do in around the hotel.
Food wasnt great and didnt have a great selection
Rooms Werent Great Floor Was Filthy
Our Doors On To The Balcony Couldnt Lock.
Anytime we went to reception they would take a long time to serve
Its outside area was dirty and the inside pool lights didnt work
I wouldnt go back

Contrary to previous reviews, the hotel was actually pretty good while we were there. The rooms were clean, bathrooms as well, maids came and cleaned every day (without stealing, but they had an odd tendency to put our beds together). The food was excellent, I've gained 8 pounds in 5 days. Every meal was different, and there was a variety of choices, and menu changed every day. The pool was pretty good, and there was a covered pool with warm water and a jakuzi. There is not much to do in the hotel other than to eat and sleep (and to swim in the pool), but that was completly fine with me and my friends. I definitely can recommend this hotel solely on the quality of the food.

When we arrived we were advised to rent a safety deposit box which we did but as our departure was at 0815 we could not receive our deposit back from the reception as they did not handle cash until 0900. Even through normal office hours you could not exchange English currency for Euros at reception.

The meals are self service but the choice was very limited and on the rare occasion they had bacon and eggs on the menu for breakfast they had to serve you with 2 rashers of bacon and 1 egg and that was it.

Entertainment may as well of been none exsistant as when you returned from an evening stroll the bar was closed.

Any guest with mobility problems should remember that there are 24 marble steps to climb from a slight slope to get to the hotel. The disability ramp is from street level following the path of a building and when you arrive at the top through overgrown shrubs.

Overall we did not enjoy our stay at this hotel and we would not reccomend it to anyone of our friends

I stayed in the Selvamar Hotel for one week in November 2006 and found it to be the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. On the face of it the Hotel looks very clean and tidy but look beyond that and the hotel shows its true colours.

The hotel caters for the French tourist and all the entertainment is directed towards them, so if you are not French don’t expect any entertainment.

The food is not too bad so long as you heat it up in the microwave oven and please keep away for the free wine at meal times as I have seen the waiters pour the dregs from glasses back into the carafe.

The staff appears to be very friendly and speak very good English until something goes wrong and then all of a sudden no one in the hotel can speak any English.
I was warned that I should take a safety deposit box has things have gone missing from the rooms. So I took a safety deposit box to the cost of 27euros for 5 days and was informed that 10euro would be returned. I was due to leave the hotel at 8:15 am and was told that the reception would not be open till 9am and that I would have to come back then, as I could not go back I lost the 10euro.

The staff, are always appear on a permanent siesta and woe betide those who disturb them.

My advice to any one other then the French tourist is doesn’t stay there cos if you do it will be an experience that you won’t soon forget. I wont be staying there again.
