“Lovely hotel with great rooms but not a true all inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

Coach drops you off at rear of hotel follow signs for Sunrise Hotel up a massive hill!! The hotel is lovely, great rooms very clean and modern, I was on the 7th floor. Staff pretty miserable no life in them, the all inclusive is not a true AI
No drinks before 11 or after 11 not even water . Strict meal times. Food is very good, great paella and seafood, omelettes for breakfast are great. Burgers hot dogs crisps and nuts at lunch time by the pool bar, only a small section of the bar serves the AI customers and it seems paying customers get priority.
Indoor pool nice but small, jacuzzi and steam room fine.
2 mins from the beach, forget paying for the Tredora market @ €19 each it's cheaper by taxi.
Great value for money though

I always read hotel reviews & find my own judgement is better than the bad reviews.
On this occasion the bad reviews are correct.
The receptionists are rude, unhelpful & are not interested in any of your concerns.
My wife & myself took an AI break at this hotel. The main meals were of reasonable choice however, the buffet were open 12 till 2pm. These consisted of Burgers, hotdogs, crisp, peanuts & olives which was poor to say the least.
The drinks were watered down & were monitored, if you exceeded this daily avg your band was removed.
The entertainment was, there wasn't any apart from Bingo, quiz or 50's to 70's music.
The hotel had a very small pool, a very small bathing area, if you booked in peak then you would struggle to get a bed.
The rating of the hotel states a 4*, if anything a reasonable 3*.
The beds were made every other day & cleaned.
The rooms were small but manageable.
In general the hotel was a bit dated & started to show signs of wear & tear. If you do book this hotel, expect a trek from the roadside of about 1/4 of a mile & expected to descend down were 8 flight staircase.
Check this out before you book this hotel.

We were very pleased with out stay here, we paid £650 including flight all inclusive 2 adults and 1 child. The hotel was excellent, clean, well maintained well set out, the person who said they couldn't find the jacuzzi or sauna can't have looked very hard as I was in their every day. The bar staff were very pleasant to us and I didn't feel they treated the all inclusive any different at the bar, we never queued for more that 3 minutes for drinks either. You sometimes had to queue for 5 mins to get into restaurant at busy times, there was a lot of French and Belgiums their and they were obviously on a different package as they had wine on their table were we had to go and get ours, I found the waiters to be very pleasant although a bit stressed at times. The only complaint I had was the receptionists who were not friendly at all. I could barely bring myself to look at them by the end of the holiday. The animation was ok. As I said all in all for the money it was an excellent holiday and I would recommend it to anyone.

We booked this holiday through an internet based company (Deal of the Day Holidays) and were guaranteed a 4* all inclusive holiday, hotel to be allocated one week prior to departure.

We were told 5 days before departure where the hotel would be.

Parking at Bristol Airport, flights (RyanAir), hotel & transfers (SunTransfers) came to £550 for 2 adults which we thought was a good deal for w/c Saturday 6th October 2012.

LOCATION

Excellent location - 8/10.

The hotel is close to the centre of Lloret de Mar and is only 5 minutes walk to the beach. Granted it is up a steep hill but we didn't find it a problem although I can imagine it would
be a challenge with a push chair or a wheelchair.

The beach was lovely and clean and there are streets of resturants, bars & shops close by.

HOTEL

The Hotel is set over 9 floors and it is immaculately clean. It feels very light and airy and well looked after. Dust is always a problem in big resorts but the cleaning staff here made sure that every surface was damp dusted and it always felt 'fresh'. 8/10

The Ground floor is Reception (with a seating area), floor 1 & 2 are bedrooms, floor 3 is the bar and outdoor pools, floor 4 is a lovely airy lounge leading to a terrace area, floor 5 (the RC button in the lift) is the restaurant and floors 6 to 9 are bedrooms. When you arrive, you will probably be brought to the car park at the rear of the Hotel where you enter on floor 6 and go down in the lift.

The hotel advertises a jacuzzi, sauna and solarium. The jacuzzi was shut, the solarium was locked and we never found the sauna.

There were lots of sunbeds and tables and we never struggled to find somewhere to sit or subathe.

ALL INCLUSIVE

There are 2 classes of people in this hotel - all inclusive guests and everyone else. The 3rd floor bar is big and the AI section is tiny little corner designed to keep you from the real guests who are paying (6 euros for a Red Label whisky and diet cola!).

On our first night here, we queued for 20 minutes for 2 small glasses of wine and eventually went round to the other bar and paid rather than stand all night to be seved. The next day we bought a bottle from the licquor store 3 minutes walk away (it was £10 for a one and a half litre of decent spirits, £3 for a really good red wine, etc) and just used the AI bar for mixers.

The tea / coffee machne was handy - when it was on (depending who was around to fill it) but is only switched on at 11am. So if you want another coffee after breakfast (no drinks / foods to be taken from the restaurant!), tough luck.

8/10 for the AI package, 2/10 for the service.

ROOMS

The rooms are spotless. The towels in our room were changed every day and the maid was always friendly. There is a safe and fridge in each room (both chargeable). 8/10

Our booking was for a double room with a balcony and a bath. The first room on floor 2 had no balcony (just a window with bars on it looking at a banking that led to the pool) so we asked to be moved. Reception were very cagey about giving two men a double bedded room ("but it is a matrimonial room", "yes I know - we are together....") but gave us a room on floor 7 that had a view of the pool and a tiny shower room. But by then it was10pm and we accepted it.

Unfortunately, the next morning, the room flooded (the room upstairs must have left a tap running and our bathroom was flooded) so we were moved to a room on the same floor. This was huge and the only downside was that view from the balcony was the brick wall of the block of flats next door but we were just happy to be settlled.

RESTAURANT

The food here was exceptional with lots of choices at every sitting. Yes, you have a to briefly queue as it is a self-service buffet but every meal was superb.

There was lots of seafood / paella and fish but always at least 4 choces for main courses. The vegetarian couple we spoke to said they were reallly pleased with the choices they had.

Some nights you have to check in by the door before going to your table but this was very hit and miss - and to be honestt the 3 female staff in the restuarant had such bad attitudes that we actively avoided them.

There is a bar in the restaurant that you have to queue to get your drinks if you are all inclusive. If you are paying, the staff will be all over you and bring things to your table - and they will leave a huge queue of all inclusive people at the bar to come to your table.

9/10 for the food - but 3/10 for most of the staff workking here.

STAFF

The Reception staff in this hotel should all be sacked NOW. They were the most miserable bunch of people I have ever come across. Any request was met with a hard stare and a grimace and they made us feel like an inconvenieve when we had the audacity to request changing rooms when ours was flooded by someone in the room above us!

The Maitre D' in the restaurant (you can spot hm as he wears a coloured shirt where the rest wear white) only smiled when he saw you didn't have an all inclusive wrist band.

9/10 for the cleaning staff, 6/10 for the bar staff - 0/10 for Reception.

SUMMARY

I always try to give honest revews on here. I accept we only paid £550 for 2 of us but if this had been my main holiday and I saved all year to bring my family on an AI break, I would have felt let down. The issues could so easily be addressed by treating your AI guests as valued customers and not catttle and reminding your Reception staff that every guest is a customer and they are paying your wages so please try and look as if you care whether they enjoy their holidays.

First of all, food selection was good but that was about it. We arrived at 8pm Monday night to find rude and obnoxious staff, we were allocated a room with bars on the windows even though we paid for a balcony apartment. we were unhappy with this as it felt as though you were in a prison, we spoke to reception and they agreed to move us to a balcony room but couldnt do it till the next day were we had to leave our first room by 10am and couldnt get in the other till 2pm. The queues for all inclusive drinks are silly, the only have one person serving and only 2 drinks per person a time even though we had 3 in our room, queue'd around 40 minutes in the evenings for each time and it wasnt that busy. There was hardly any sunbathing room so alot of people went to beach or sat at tables to sunbathe. Swimming pool is way to small needs to be bigger with how big the hotel is. In our second room the tv didnt work and we asked for a replacement which never happened either. We enjoyed our stay but only because we meet some nice people there hotel should not be a 4 star i have stayed in better 3 star hotels. We would NOT go back again, they are very rude to Bristish people and only have about 3 nice staff in the whole hotel. And just a warning if you have a late flight on your last day be careful as we were refused lunch and had to go out for dinner and no more free drinks after 12pm make sure you read the notices they give you before you sign it too. Hope this helps

My biggest grumble of any holiday is those that moan for the sake of it, and there were a few here I can tell you! (Firstly let me start by telling you, I am somewhat of a snob!) I hate rudeness, bad hotels, and poor service along with sub-rate food & drink!................ there, that's that out of the way. Now this Hotel! We paid for a last minute holiday "all Inclusive" here at a low price, I picked 4 star because I wanted a bit of luxury (don't we all), & guess what? I got it here!

Food was plentyfull, nice and a great choice!, Rooms very clean, modern and cleaned daily, Hotel very impresive, clean tidy and modern! Staff, work hard, smile and keep the place running nicely. If your All Inclusive they are a tad slow in serving you, but big deal!

If you have booked this hotel, or thinking of booking, GO FOR IT! there are worse (we saw them) if you pay little, don't expect a lot, is my moto. For the money this was a great hotel and service.

Room Tip: if you want early nights, ask for rooms on 9th floor! if your low 2nd to 4th, and facing the pool, c...

Just got home today from our 7 night stay all inclusive.friendly staff and very hard working.the poor animation women had to man the snack bar, do the animation, and odd jobs. One small section of the bar was sectioned off so only one a time could get a drink, always a long wait at busy times. The huge remaining section of bar being empty. Also first place I have been where all inclusive starts at 11am which was a pain. Food was poor for breakfast dinner and supper good. Being on floor 5 we had too travel to floor 6 in the lift then walk across the building and walk down one floor to floor 5 due to different levels. Very clean overall. One big problem is no mini golf like advertised, archery was on once in the week held In a small carpark (with parked cars). Very rude French and Germans everywhere shouting all day. Was pool side drinking my Beer on the first day and soon found out they were modernising rooms up directly by us. Disc cutter going all day(really relaxing)
