“Should keep this to ourselves!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

4th time now that we have stayed at the Aquarium after staying at other hotels in Llorett so it shows that we are very happy to recommend it.
The rooms are of a good decor clean and comfortable, always asked for high floor and always got it.
The food is typical buffet service of a good standard and the staff do a great job in keeping the tables tidy.
The big plus is that they have a super indoor heated swimming pool jacuzzi's fitness room and a sauna and you don't even need to bring your own towels as they let you have one for a €10 deposit.
Good location with bars nearby and beach 5 mins away.
Overall we have found ourselves a real gem of a hotel and hope that this dosn't encourage too many visitors as we should really have kept it a secret.

Room Tip: high floor, pool view, perfect.

just had a nice stay at aquarium hotel. Arrived late as a poor 2 hr transfer dropping other people off at their hotels. Reception staff good and offered us a meal ticket for lunch the next day.We asked for a high floor room pool view and got it, thank you. Rooms were clean, comfortable flat screen tele, towels changed daily, great showers.Meals were ok, but just to basic. Breakfast choice ok ,cereals like cardboard, but good choice of hot, eggs, bacon scrambled eggs. lot's of choice in the continental section.Didn't go into pool or spa as a 4 night stay, but looked ok.Evening meal: don't bother with soup as it's packet soup full of salt. good salad bar and plenty of choice, hot section is fresh fish prepared by the chef or choose from the trays of cooked meats ,chicken, fish etc, but very bland. The veg is frozen and blanched so tasteless and watery.Puddings basic, no fresh icecream.Bar ok and had a good chat with staff. Beer estrelle 3.2 e. Only saw 1 entertainment and just singing behind an keyboard. This Hotel is called AQUARIUM and there is a 6 ft tank, why not a huge tank with a variety of fish to look at a bit odd.Overall a good stay and also a breakfast bag made up as leaving at 6am :o)« less

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor (4th floor) as noise travels. also pool view as some rooms overlook the road

This was a last minute booking so we did not have much chance to review hotels so thank goodness we chose the aquarium. This hotel is rated a 4 star and although the rooms are a little on the small side other things more than outweigh them. The swimming pools the indoor and outdoor were of a great size and there is a lifeguard on duty during the day and there is a gym which is free to use.You can get internet access in your room for free if you have not brought your own computer you can pay to use the terminals in reception. The rooms are a little on the small side but they are very clean there is a maid service daily even on a sunday. We stayed half board and didnt know what to expect from the food we were pleasantly surprised the breakfast caters for all tastes it is buffet style you get the choice of toast, fruit, croissants, cereal and there is a wide variety of things to choose from if you want a hot option.Dinner was also buffet style there was a wide range of dishes to choose from and there is a microwave if you wanted to heat your meal up the sweets were delicious so we are going to go home several stone heavier. All in all this was a great holiday at a great hotel we will definetely be going back next year.

We booked a last minute easter break deal here. Overall very good value for what you get.

The spa and indoor pool were easily 4/5 star UK standard. Weights, jacuzzi, good size pool, massages, steam rooms and some sort of tanning beds.

The bar area was large with a stage for the entertainers. Only saw one act while we were there. No kids disco or entertainment which was a disappointment, perhaps in the peak season? The bar staff were fairly typical surly chaps and it took a while to get served even when it was quiet.

Reception was very nicely decorated, the receptionist will give you free map of the area if you ask. Staff were nice and friendly. There's a small games room for the kids but they'll end up spending more than your bar bill if you're not careful.

Restaurant, lots of good choice. Usually a choice of two or three meat dishes and and a couple of fish dishes. Food could be hotter though. Plenty of salad choice too. Breakfast was equally impressive, bit of a queue for the fried eggs and not every nationality gets the concept of queuing shall we say. We were only there for four days so can't comment on eating there for a week. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

The bedrooms were a decent size and cleaned every day. Bed was comfy and the patio was a decent size, although we overlooked an apartment block so there wasn't much to see. Bathroom was roomy too. There's a flat screen telly with Beeb 1 & 2. A safe and fridge can be hired daily or weekly. We didn't bother so can't comment. We did notice a fair amount of road noise and a lot of police sirens at nighttime. It could be worse peak time.

Some people on our coach complained they took 2 hours+ to get to their resort. We were dropped off within 1/2 an hour but going home was more like 1.5 hours. Might be worth getting a taxi.

The hotel itself is in a fairly built up area but it's only a 5-10 minute walk to Fennals beach. There's supermarkets and bars all within easy walking distance.

Overall not sure if we'd come back as we like to have some evening entertainment for us and and our seven year old but it would be a great base for exploring the area.

Dear client,
First I would like to thank you the time it took you to share your experience on TripAdvisor.
Indeed, as you said, during the high season kid’s entertainment is more complete including daytime activities and night. Additionally, you can consult in our web site all the plans that you can do from de hotel in order to explore the area.
If you visit us again, I would like you give us the opportunity to show you we are worthy of your confidence.
Best regards,

After being dropped off by the airport transit bus with the instructions "To the second crossing, take the street on the left. Your hotel is there." westarted our Easter break away from the cold British weather. The Hotel Aquarium is a "4 star" hotel and spa to the west of the main town centre in a quiet street backing onto a similar hotel (The Oasis) another hotel in the same chain. The ground floor of the hotel has the reception area, a bar with small cabaret stage, a small games room and the large dining area. The four upper floors contain the cloned bedrooms all with small balconies looking out over the street or pool area.
Our double room was clean and reasonably sized with a somewhat dated looking en-suite. The charge for the safety deposit box was more than that for a fridge; the weather forecast didn't merit opting for the fridge! Interstingly, the canvas oil painting on the wall appeared to have been repaired with a piece of sacking and painted over. Maybe the Spanish pensioner who "restored" Ecce Homo has been at work again?
The hotel guests seemed to be mainly Spanish, French or German with a few British. The meals, in order to cater for the large numbers, wer buffet style. However, there was a good variety of hot dishes or salad and cold meat alternatives. The choice of desserts required a second visit. Bottled wine could be opened, partially drunk and saved for the next day's meal. Staff were efficient and friendly.
The spa consisted of an indoor pool, jacussi (indoor and outdoor), steam room, needle showers small gym with a range of machines and weights and an outdoor pool. This was all overseen by one lifeguard so small children should be looked after by their parents.
Evening entertainment at the weekend was a variety of musical cabaret acts.

We stayed during March 2013 for 7 days. The hotel is clean and nicer than in the pictures. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and we had a balcony room facing the pool. The cleaners were discreet and did a thorough job.
The food is basic typical buffet food, however the fruit was not very fresh and the desserts were the same every night. Real lack of vegetable options too, so these are the three things food-wise they could improve on. However the meats, fish and salads were very good.
Both pools were great, and outdoor jaquzzi was awesome. The gym is a very small room and most of the equipment needed a good clean and fixing- this could be improved by doing this and also adding a gym ball, some therabands and some free weights as there was only 3 bikes, stepper, cross trainer and 2/3 weight machines.
The staff were polite, approachable and friendly. It was unfortunate that on our last night the holiday season started and they had the entertainer in. We had to get up extremely early and the entertainment was very loud (as in it could have been in the room next to you loud) and we were on the fourth floor and it was very disturbing as we hardly got any sleep.
On the wednesday of our stay the club beyond the pool opened and that was quite noisy for a while, but didn't bother us as we went out.
There were also a couple of occasions were guests were throwing beers into the pool from their rooms and being noisy at night, but that didn't last long and again didn't really bother us and you will probably get that anywhere you go.
Perhaps if you are looking for quiet nights or are a young family this may not be the best choice, but would be fun if you are going to the entertainments and out in the evening.
It is a good location as it is walking distance from the local town, 2 beaches one with an outdoor gym and good walks and views. Lots of tourist attractions like water park, gardens and castles and close to la roca shopping outlet (bus goes from lloret in the high season) and barca.
All in all a good stay considering it was so cheap, so pleased with our choice.

Room Tip: Try and get a fourth floor room as might be noiser lower floors, see review.
