“Good value for money and lovely beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2009

I have recently returned from a ten night stay at this hotel and I have to say its not bad!!! Of course there are negatives which I will get out of the way. If you are looking for luxury you arnt going to get it here. I was supprised it was a 4 star because some elements look 3 star to me. The pool area is what let it down the most. The sunbeds are really cheap hard plastic and there arnt enough umbrellas and they are all really dirty (I didnt see them cleaned once or the tables and chairs surrounding the pool area) That really let the area down it was all a bit cheap. We ended up nicking the spare blankets fro the room and putting them under our towels for comfort! You also have to get up at the crack of dawn most days to reserve one and they are really close together. The pool is nice and there is a childrens pool if you have children. There is also a jacizzi area on the roof with a small pool but that was always really overcrowded so we only went there once but nice if you can get up there early enough! Also the pool doesnt get the sun til 11am I would prefer going to the fenals beach round the corner from the hotel which was beautiful we went every day but dont get a sunbed unless your loaded (2x sunbeds and an umbrella was 16 euros!!!) It was fine just lying on towels as the sand didnt really stick. The sea was clear and great for swimming in we loved the beach!

The rooms are ok really but not many pillows. They were very clean and cleaned daily. The only negative of the rooms is that you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms on the floor and every morning about 5am when the clubs inthe town closed there were drunken yobs (mainly germans) running up and down the corridors so bring earplugs if your a light sleeper.

The all inclusive system was great we barely spent anythingon food and drink our entire stay. The drinks come in plastic glasses but they were fine and safer by the pool. You can get 2 drinks at a time of local spirits and soft drinks which were ok and they had a cocktail of the day that was included too! This was our first time going all inclusive and would definately do it again we drank loads and didnt spend money!

The food was all served in the dining hall which was quite noisy but not too bad. It was all buffet style food and there are loads of choice we always found something we could eat but into the second week it all got a bit repetitive, The deserts and fruit selection was great too and we didnt find the food too cold as they replenish it all the time. Ithought the food was nice and good value as there arnt many restaurants in lloret and they are quite expensive.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. On our first night my mattress was really lumpy and we spoke to reception and they changed it to a new one straight away and would give extra towels if we asked,

We also went on a couple of trips organised by the hotel. We spent a day in barcelona seeing Gaudis church then 5 hours shopping time at the ramblas which took about 40 mins to get to and only cost 15 euros each return (good value) Barcelona is great to look around and they do other tours showing more sights if thats what you want. We also went to the water world which we wernt too impressed at it was 25 euros each and i thought it was very expensive and overcrowded and very hilly. Its not a patch on waterworld in cyprus I wouldnt go there again not enough rides and the queues were over an hour long! A good thing is the hotel can provide a packed lunch which isnt amazing but will see you through you get a drink some snacks, a sandwich and some fruit!

Now to the area. There is a nice pub over the road from the hotel called robin hood and the main town is about 10-15 mins walk but the best souvineer shops were near the hotel but all fairly expensive as spain tends to be these days. The main town has lots of clubs and it seems to be the german and dutch version of Ibiza! We didnt go clubbing but there were nice bars that did great cocktail for good value.

The hotel does entertainment everynight and its good if you have kids as there is akids disco and usually a singer or a dance act for the adults afterwards and of course can drink free drinks all night so cheap alternative. There is also bowling and crazy golf up teh road for kids and the kids at the hotel all seemed to like it. There were also quite a few british people which was nice as made a good atmosphere at the hotel.

Overall I would recommend it as a very good value for money holiday but would go for 7 days as not enough to do for longer than that!

Got to Hotel, reception staff not interested, no welcome or brief on where to go, breakfast times etc. male receptionist more interested in fanning himself, no air con and unprofessional behaviour towards female receptionist who had to tell him she was busy, trying to ward off his advances. poor girl.
For a four star the room was a disappointment, paper falling off wall, the whole place needs a refurb, very tired. sml rooms, ours overlooked main street, and another apartm block, dark, no decent view.
pool area was hideous with no space between the beds and not enough to go around, within 10mins of us being there, an row broke out with residents about the chairs, small pool area, no scenic view at all, drab! Had to pay 30euros (10euro deposit) for a tv control, 20euro to view a weeks telly, bit mean for a 4 star! u pay for the use of the safe also.
we never went to pool after that for the whole week, we went to beach.
on the plus side, the rooms were superfically cleaned every day, clean towels and beds made, cleaners always looked busy, but what can you do with a crumbly canvas?
Another plus was the location, beach 2mins away, although a bit rough on the feet, gravel beach and it was a mission trying to get in and out the sea, big drop and felt like quick sand, beware for the children, watch them at all times.
Had great walks in and out of the centre, and plenty of night life and restuarants, which was a saving grace.
Hotel should be a three star and cheaper.

in my defence i would point out that we are frequent visitors to spain and we do look for value and the price clearly determines what you can expect, but wait a moment, whilst i would agree that the building is first class, the staff are very good, the rooms are first rate, the resort itself is charming.the food was horrible, the worst I have experienced, for example the soup said to to be vegetable was for 5 consecutive days a murky green salty conconction, the rest of the food was so bad I ceased to eat any of it other than cheese and toast for breakfast, where the coffee was good actually, the pool was the smallest i have ever seen,4 star pool.i dont think so ! it is next to the road and if ten people are in it then its rush hour, forget actually being able to swim, the drinks were vile the wine was the worst i have tasted and god knows i have had some horrid wines,in conlusion i would say that the food and drink was so bad it drove me to write this, the very firts time i have ventured an opinion about a holiday,if you feel that you cab have good value from going to the hotel and staying there and eating anf drinking elswhere then its a good place otherwise shun at all costs and by the way we visited all of the other h tops in the area ,and nothing we saw would drive us to go h top again happy holidays.

Just returned from a week spent in the Royal Beach. On first arrival the reception area is quite impressive, with its marble floors and gorgeous greenery, however thats were the luxury stops. The staff on reception were off hand and very unwelcoming and i had to ask twice what floor our room was on and were the lift was.The corridor was drab and very grubby looking and it really smelt damp, our room was extremely basic with cigarette burns in the nylon curtains and bedspreads. No kettle by the way which i thought was automatically in four star hotels? Talking of stars i would rate this as a low 3 star.Queuing for drinks was fairly traumatic the bar staff were very rude and very suggestive to all the young girls in the queue. You got all your drinks in a plastic beaker by the way, mmm nice. The white wine tasted like something you would clean the floor with. You know im trying to think of something positive to say here but its hard, the food was the same basically every day,we ended up eating out a lot even though we had paid for full board.Please. do not go here with young children,it was very very noisy at night and the laundry room beside us started up at about 6.30 every morning.Another morning we were awakened by a group of Spanish girls jumping into the pool drunk and screaming at about 7 nobody came out to tell them off. I would suggest that this hotel needs a fair amount of money spent on it to upgrade it and make it worthy of earning 3 stars

The hotel has a 4 star rating but the most I would give it would be 3 star at most. The hotel was thoroughly cleaned every morning but the carpets and infrastructure need modernising/replaced. The pool area is disgusting. The sun beds are dirty and old with no padding available. The pool is old, poorly maintained and dangerous for children. The food was adequate for a 3 star but certainly not 4 star. If you enjoy cold rice pudding and cream caramel then the hotel is for you. If you enjoy queuing for your drinks and food then it's for you. If you enjoy being ignored at the bar on all inclusive as the bar staff prioritise paying guests then this hotel is for you. If you enjoy your drinks in plastic beakers every time you have a drink, even when sitting inside, then this hotel is for you. If you want woken up several times in the middle of the night by revellers having fun banging on guests doors and having parties in their rooms then this is the place for you. It is a noisy, dirty and unsafe hotel and to call it 3 star is a laugh.

I have just returned from my stay at the Royal Beach 2 days ago and have to say I was dreading it after reading the reviews. I always like to have a quick look to see what people think but after reading the bad reviews I am not sure whether it is a help any more and can actually put you off staying somewhere when in fact there is nothing at all wrong with it. My husband and I are 31 married and have 2 young children 4 & 5. After reading the bad reviews I was terrified it was going to be awful. It is the first year in a long time that we have gone for a "cheap" holiday as it was last minute, and without sounding snobbish have been to Cyprus Mexico and Dubai over the last few years all in 4/5 * hotels so was obviously nervous after reading the reviews. I dont normally leave reviews but felt i should for all the people who like myself were nervous.
We stayed at the Royal Beach for 10 days and I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised!!!!! The hotel is very clean and tidy and the maid cleaned our room every single day and changed our towels. The whole hotel was cleaned from top to bottom every day and you would see this every morning. So for anyone who says the hotel is not clean is talking rubbish!!!. Breakfast was served from 8am and it was very similar to home, cereal, bacon, fried eggs, scrambled some days, tomatoes, beans, fruit, toast, jams bread etc basically everything you would want from a breakfast and lots of selection.
All of the food throughout our stay was lovely and cant understand how anyone can say that the food was not nice. There was so much variety, yes there were a few times when it was repeated chicken, chops etc but surely at home you would not eat something completely different every single day for 2 weeks. We have 2 young children and I am quite fussy myself but always found there was plenty of choice and to be honest probably ate too much (so the scales say anyway) so it definately was not awful. There was also fresh bread every day. Fish, pork, veal, chicken, pasta, salad, potatoes, veg, cooked meats, they also had a wok with food like Paella in. Snacks also included chips, burgers, hot dogs, salad etc so if there was somehow nothing that you liked, which I find so hard to believe, there was also the snacks which were served between meals. As other reviews have said if it was cold it wasn't long before they brought out fresh which they did all the time but there was a microwave if you wanted it red hot!!!!
The pools were a good size and very clean, the kiddies pool was ideal aswell and not to forget the roof terrace pool which had 1 small pool and 2 jaccuzzis and also a bar it was beautiful. I cant believe that people would complain about the plastic glasses!!!! Obviously this is for safety reasons who wants smashed glass around the pool??!!!! If you were drinking inside with your meals then you did get a proper glass. It would have been better if they served bigger glasses as you had to make a few trips to the bar but you were allowed 2 drinks at a time so it wasn't too bad.
We found all the staff very friendly and helpful and the animation team were great too. The entertainment was a little cheesy but it was good fun and for goodness sake its not going to be West End Shows now is it????
The rooms were basic and as we were a family of 4 we had 4 single beds along side each other which did take up some room but who wants to spend their holiday in the room anyway so for its purpose it was fine and most importantly it was clean!!!! One tip I would say though is if you like a powerful hairdryer take your own as the one in the hotel room wasn't powerful at all and therefore I didn't dry my hair on a night as it took too long.
The lights do not go off at 11pm they turn off at 12pm and we were in bed every night at this time and were not disturbed any night by any noise!!!!!
We did not see one group of idiotic anybodies and there were no lager louts causing chaos and making a noise thats for sure. To be honest I did not see anyone drunk the whole time we were there and there certainly were no hen or stag do's there thats for sure. Everyone we talked to had a lovely stay and there were people who we talked to who had visited this hotel a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beach is also lovely yes its shingley but nice and great for snorkling as my husband found out. There are a few quiet little coves were snorkling is great.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and as it didnt cost the earth which is all the better!!! Please do not listen to all these people who are leaving bad reviews - when reading them I feel like they have stayed in a different hotel altogether!!!
You will have a great time and if you've got family they will love it. My children had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home.
