“A must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

A beautiful medieval town on the hill. You can get there by a cablecar if it's not to windy. Wonderful panoramic views of Trapani and the coast, charming stony streets and not so many tourists. There's a possibility to try some Sicilian food in the touristic grocery shops and even though the staff is very freindly most of the products can be bought much cheaper in Trapani.

“History, nature and culture combined”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

We took the bus to Erice from Trapani. It's a lovely historic village on top of a steep prominence with stunning views all around. There are ancient ruins of castles and quaint streets where you can try freshly baked almond pastries - a local specialty. We chose to walk back to Trapani, through the countryside, an unbeatable way to experience the real outdoors.

“Take the cable car to Erice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

We went on the cable car with no knowledge of what was waiting for us at the end of the trip. The cable car ride was worth every penny just for the experience, although the views were excellent as well. It was a pity the glass on the cable car was so scratched, which meant taking photos was not possible.

To arrive at the town of Erice was an added bonus. Being a Saturday evening, there were people everywhere, the restaurants and shops were all open, and the area was really buzzing.

Unfortunately there were no taxis at the bottom of the cable car which meant a long walk back to our hotel.

“Marvellous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

Erice is a medieval town set on a mountain next to Trapani. One can decide to visit the small town either by taking the cable car or by car. The place is a small walk into history with it's cobbled streets and narrow alleys. the pastries are fantastic and is a must to get some for home, especially their nougats and almond sweets. Be careful where to eat as the restaurants in the main street tend to be poor in quality. Find the little restaurants in the alleys. Otherwise a must vsist when going to that part of Sicily.
