“Nice and clean place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Staff is really nice and helpful. Breakfast was really good. Property is located in a residential area, at the suburbs of Trapani. You will have to drive to centre, but you will not experience any problems finding a place to park at the B&B (which should be an issue in the centre).

B&B Delle Palme is a very nice place. We speand 2 wonderful days there. The location is not central, but the owner gave us 2 bicycles and we could us it for exclusive. B&B is placed near a cable car (about 1 km - easy to reach by bike) to Erice (a place surely worth visitng during a stay in Trapani). The owner and his staff were very friendly and caring. When we came whey welcomed us with orange juice and some snacks. The breakfast was great - a nice choice of cold meats, cheese, breadrolls, jam, fresh sweet bakings, cold pizza-bread and a wonderful coffee. The only disadvange is a price - little bit expensive (50 euro per double room), but we had a special coupon with a 20% discount so it was also OK comparing to other B&B or hotels.

two girl friends and myself stayed at this B&B and found it to be everything we needed. As other reviews suggest there was a fair amount of walking involved as transport links were not always great, but we managed to get everywere without too much trouble. A trip up to Erice in the cable cars is a must! The room was clean and bed was comfortable, although we did take turns to sleep on the less comfortable sofa/bed for the third person. Breakfast was great- for the first couple of days then it was just the previous days left overs. One morning another guest came and took all the good stuff (pastries and such like) leaving us with yoghurt, fruit, ham and bread. I have to admit though for us three girls we did feel a little uneasy like we were intruding on their family home, we were a little cautious to use the cooking facilities which are shared. However, they did pick us up from the airport for a reasonable price and offerred the use of their powered bikes. So all in all not bad, probably better suited to couples.

Our stay at this B&B was by far the most disappointing of our 7 days in Sicily.

To be fair, we had two marginally good comments about the B&B:
-The location was difficult to find due to the lack of road signage.  However, there was a grocery and a few places to buy pizza nearby.
-The owner, Mario, was kind and tried to be accommodating but somehow his hospitality felt forced and unnatural.

The negatives of this B&B abound:
1.  The price (55 euro) is high in comparison to places closer to the center and that offer more modern accommodations.
2.  The place is run down.  It was like we were staying at an old nursing home or awkward relatives house.  The furniture is dated.  The shower was awful with doors that barely closed, fluctuating water temperature/pressure, and the shower head itself was clearly "rigged" to continue use.
3.  The smell.  The entire B&B had a lingering smell that I can only describe as a mix of feet and smoke.
4.  The neighborhood was not "warm".  It reminded me of "nicer areas" of Baghdad (literally did two tours there).
5.  The "generous buffet" consists of a select number of pastries with a piece or two of raw meat.  (With that said, Mario does make an excellent coffee.)

All in all, we thought this place was tragic because we could tell it had seen better days.

I stayed here for 2 nights and it was such a great deal. Mario and Nat picked me up from the train station and took me to the BB. The room was huge and with a private bathroom with a hair dryer! They also had shampoo and shower gel for you.

The bed was really comfortable and the area was really quiet. The room also had a mini fridge and a tv so it was nice to go to the market nearby to buy some food and have some munchies and COLD water for the next day.

Mario's cappucinos were the best I had in Italy. He is very friendly and drove me to the airport for a very early flight. Overall a great stay for me and I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in Trapani.

  • Liked — Mario's cappucinos, customer service, comfortable bed
  • Disliked — Nothing

The Delle Palme BB in Trapani, Sciliy was clean, roomy and the proprietors extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was good. The only drawback was that it is not so close to downtown Trapani and you have to take a bus to get there, and they do not run that frequently especially at night. Great place if you have a car because it is in a fairly quiet residential neighborhood.
