“Perfect getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We were there end of April / beginning of May this year. We took a family suite with sea view. It means 2 rooms and a large terrace; everything nice, clean, spacious and sunny. In the room there is a fridge, electric kettle, some mugs - important things if you come with a toddler. Lovely pool area; unfortunately it was quite early in the season and the water was really cold; it got warmer only at the end of our stay. A really sandy beach and the sea very shallow - you can walk about 50 meters and still feel the ground under your feet. The food was tasty and the choice was sufficient even for a 2 years old, who by nature does not eat everything that the parents give her...
The minuses:
1) No soap or shampoo in the room. You'd expect at least some soap in a 5* hotel...
2) Very hard bed and tall, stiff pillows
3) I needed to have 1 call for my work during our stay and it was cheaper to do it from my mobile in roaming, rather than from the room. They charge 2 EUR per minute for a toll-free Greek number call!
Internet is free in the lobby, in the rooms you'd have to pay and the signal is week.
Service is quite indifferent towards guests; we don't mind really, but I've read a lot about Greek hospitality and it was not the case. But they were of course polite and helpful.
Not too many attractions in the neighborhood; although you should really take an evening walk to Makrigialos seaside promenade. It's small but nice and with a couple of pleasant cafes.
Overall, we had a very nice stay and I can recommend this hotel to any family with children.

I stayed here with some of my family members in July 2012. Our room wasn't as good as I had expected, but everything else was great. The beach was nice and the pool area was wonderful. The food was delicious and there was a lot to choose from. Fortunately, the hotel area was nice because there wasn't much to do in Makrigialos.

i traveled as a couple in the beginning of october 2012. we had a wonderful time there, this hotel is good for families and for couples as well - the families is more near the main pool area, and the couples and those who want quite is near the spa pool.
the food is great with much variety.
we got a room with a huge balcony with the sea view, and with a lot of storing places.
the bed was comfortable.
the beach is clean, and really beautiful.
all inclusive is not including special things like imported beer, but i really liked the "home brand" beer so i didn't mind.
we rented a car and traveled in east crete and we really enjoyed the view and the nice people.

Room Tip: stay near the spa pool if you are traveling as couple to get more quite athmosphere.

Great place for children/youth and young families. Being around 70, we stayed at the quiet pool all day. Very much and good food, good service and nice staff. Clean and proper all places. Big rooms and terrace with sea vew. But the beds are far too hard to our backs! Nothing missing in all inclusive.

Stayed for one weak. It's great for kids and teens as well. The oldest was 15 y o.,and the youngest 13.and we had a grat time all of us.With a shoppingtrip to Ierapetra,a freesbe and a swimmingmadrass-the holiday was great even for them. It's all about what you make it not what you expect.A coupel of times to the watersport center in Mikrigialos was also something that made it little more spicy.(the sofa was the favorite!)It's a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Great food!
DONT try the Spa-it's overprised and they dont have the skills you expect from a Spa.I had the pedicure-and it was just a simpel foot bath with some removing og dead skincells-no peeling no use of massage etc.

When we went to Mikri Poli we were a bit cautious because of mixed comments we had heard before about this hotel. Fortunately it turned out really good. The hotel is just a few years old and is in a pretty good condition. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. However, some maintenance problems have already started to show. Our room was on the upper level so we had a great view of the sea and of Makrygialos. Note that not all rooms have a view. On the other hand, going to the beach and back was a good challenge for us due to the hypsometric difference. The series of elevators helps a lot but still this terrain is not easy for older people or people with kinetic problems. Another thing is that rooms that are closer to the beach are also close to swimming pools and to the outdoors theater, meaning closer to noise generators. The beach is well-organized and the sea is the best for young children (shallow and warm, with sand inside and outside). The meals are quite satisfactory with a good variety of products. The restaurant has both an indoor and an outdoor section which is very convenient, because during lunch hours it is usually very hot to sit outside, but breakfast and dinner can be combined with a nice view and fresh air. Nevertheless, the hotel is usually crowded, so don’t expect a relaxing atmosphere. Furthermore, although the hotel is all inclusive, it is worth visiting two very nice traditional tavernas in nearby villages named “Piperia” in Pefki village and “Kalliotzina” in Koutsoura. Ask anybody in the area for directions, they will definitely know what you are looking for. The service in the hotel is efficient and quick. Makrygialos is a touristic area but Mikri Poli is built at the end of the village. This means that it’s kind of secluded – although not far from shops and tavernas - and if you want to have a walk to the “centre” it’s about 10-15min. Inside the hotel, you can find a mini market and a small boutique but obviously products there are overpriced. What we found totally unacceptable is the price of the safe key – 19euros - but it seems that such charges are common policy in the hotels of this area. Internet connection is also available at an extra charge.
