“A good place for family outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Indore has very few gardens or parks where one can go out with family and spend some quality time. Regional park is a good initiative by Local authorities to create a place where one can spend some quality time in natural surroundings.

Regional park is about 6 Kilometers from Main railway station and there are plenty of public transport options to reach there. It is on the main ring road and has a huge parking bays and sufficient parking space. Outside the park there are lines of food carts with lot of variety.

The corporation has used a barren lad to create a park and made grass beds and walkways around the lake which was once a mud pool (pipalya pala). I visited this park for the first time about a month ago in December 2012. Unfortunately I went there on a Sunday and it was very crowded. The entry fee is INR25 per person and INR10 for kids, which is quite reasonable as the place require money for upkeep.

The lawns, plants are neatly lined and there are plenty of benches to sit and laze. Good photo Opp as the area is lush green. There is provision of boat ride too, with plenty of options like speed boats, water scooters, slow boats. Could not take ride as the wait time was minimum 1.5 hours. Clicked some pics and came back.

Pros:

1. Safe and secure place for family outing.
2. Lush green and good photo opp
3. Only place in Indore to enjoy boat ride
4. Neatly maintained

Cons:
1. Gets very crowded during weekends and holidays
2. No food courts, there is only one which does not justify its existence for Indorian taste buds.
3. Parking attendants are not professional, so it takes time to locate empty slot and park on crowded days.

Overall a very good place to spend few hours with family and specially kids would love it.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional park is one of the tourist attraction of Indore. It has a lake along with a beautiful garden with lot of variety of plants and seasonal flowers.
In the evening, musical fountain operates which is worth watching.
The park is clean and outside eatables are allowed only on weekdays (please confirm!!).

“Cut the jungle, waste(not invest) some Rs.50 crore, some grass and here you have a regional park.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Back in late ’80 and till mid ’90, I have found memories of a little jungle of Khajur(we call them by this but like Palm), Pilpe, Neem and other local trees. Tracking/cycling along the lake side with friends and family, enjoying the dal-bafala party.

We paid for our ignorance for the place at time, and now I am not complaining about the how well planned this park is but about the lost of nature. And also how much actually been spend on the park, rest amount or should I most of the amount goes in to the pockets of…well you guess!

This type of parks can be build at any place other then this or may be at this very place but not at cost of all the trees, birds, water bodies (construction on the natural mansoon water path to the lake). If no action taken now just wait for a decade or so and there will be no lake to look.

Enjoy till it last.

Farewell Pipliyapal Talab.
