“Excellent Centrally Located Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

I booked this hotel based upon reviews on this and other sites. I wasn't disappointed. The hotel seems brand new. My room was large and spotlessly clean. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk of the park entrance, just a few minutes to the center of the city. (I this up before booking on Google Maps satellite view.) The hotel desk staff spoke sufficient English to accommodate all of my questions and requests. The entire staff there were friendly and courteous. The included buffet breakfast was one of the best I've had in the nine years that I've stayed in equivalent hotels in other places in China.

Hotel is in a quiet street/location. It is clean and has a new feel. Our room for 3 adults is large, fitting in a super-king sized bed and a foldable bed. Mattress gives good support and is not hard. The attached toilet is large, with a bath tub and separate stall for shower. The hot water, air-con, hair dryer all work. There is a mini fridge that is empty. No free bottled water is provided. The room also has: electric kettle; safe. Large LCD TV with BBC, KBS, Sports, Star movies, and lots of China channels.

Breakfast: large spread of international and Chinese food. Breads, cakes, salad, fruits, hot and cold drinks, hot foods, egg station, noodle station…

Zhangjiajie national park has a few entrances of which 2 are more relevant to international tourists: (1) Wulingyuan entrance, for access to newer attractions; and (2) ZJJ national park entrance, where the ‘old’ attractions are. Hotel is a 15 minute walk to entrance 1, or RMB10, 3-minute taxi ride. The route to entrance 1 is filled with shops, restaurants and convenience stores. Entrance 1: do a loop comprising entrance – Tianzi mountain cable way – Yuanjiajie - Bailong elevator - 10-mile natural gallery – entrance. Connection by internal shuttle bus.

Hotel is 18 km from entrance 2. Attractions in entrance 2 include: Huangshi village with quiet tracks, Huangshi village cable way, Golden Whip brook.

Distances from hotel: Baofeng Lake 4 km; Yellow dragon cave 7 km; Grand canyon scenic area 30 km; ZJJ airport 40 km; ZJJ railway station 35 km; ZJJ bus station: 35 km; longest cable car in the world to Tianmen mountain & cave – 35 km.

Very high level of service, the lobby is grand but a bit empty and for some a little sparsely decorated but it is typical of a Chinese restaurant. Room was big and quite well appointed with a rain shower which was much appreciated. Top marks for uniqueness and quite comprehensive buffet. However, service standards must not be compared to those found in the bigger Chinese cities or in the capital cities of Asia. It's good for what it is, but it certainly isn't a resort.

We were deciding b/t this and the Pullman, and chose this hotel based on the trip advisor reviews. We werent disappointed. The hotel is very new, carpet is plush, staff is nice.

We booked through Ctrip and no one told us they do free airport and drop off if you stay 2 nights. Call front desk to arrange before you arrive.

Breakfast buffet is just ok.

stayed 2 nights with a huge tour group.. i think this hotel serves as a good starting point for those visiting its top attractions , being just a 5-10 minute drive ..a little far from the airport.. what i like : 1) huge impressive lobby 2) functional, spacious and comfortable rooms, updated amenities 3) separate shower stall --- what i don't like 1) not much to be seen outside , no coffeeshop, fastfood and convenience stores , although some shops offering some items are available that close early 2) breakfast not organized , no one would assist you to your table, and if your travelling alone, confusion might set in , even if the set up is buffet , and with many choices , food doesn't taste good .. 3) the language barrier is quite evident , except for those in the front desk, although majority of staff seem willing to serve

Room Tip: ask for rooms facing zhangjiajie mountain peaks if possible

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel over the Chinese New Year, from 21 - 25 January 2012. This hotel is very close to the National Park, just 5 minutes drive. The room is spacious and clean, the hotel staff very polite, nice and helpful. There is one person we particularly want to praise. We parked our car at the hotel's car park when we checked-in on 21 January 2012. There was heavy snow in the region. Next day 22 January, when we went to fetch the car, it was all covered with snow. A hotel staff member volunteered to clear off the snow for us. We wanted to give him some tips for his hard work, but he declined. The following days were Chinese New Year Holidays. It is the Chinese's tradition to give out red packets (lucky money). We searched around the car park trying to give him our red packets, but could no longer find him. We want to take this opportunity to salute to this honourable man. See his photo attached.

The phrase our home is your home fits this five star hotel. The key is the entire team at the hotel works together to provide those fine details which make this hotel an excellent place to start your exploration of Wulingyuan. And if you have the time they will explain how you are able to take the paths which are off the tourist route to really see why this is a UNESCO site.
