“Nice hotel good position for furniture market”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

I stayed in this hotel in January to visit the wholesale furniture market. Stayed in the Club Room, found I was the only one there when I went into the Club Room for drinks and nibbles. I am female and travel on my own regularly to China felt quite safe here. There is a couple of shopping centres within a couple of klms. Didnt use room service as the nibbles were enough for me. Staying again in April, it is an easy hotel if coming by boat as it is only a shuttle from the port. Hong Kong buses leave outside the hotel as do the shuttle.

Room Tip: Take a Club room it is only approx 30AUD extra for express check in and out, free soft drinks all da...

The hotel was a bit old. I stayed in a superior room, the bathroom was very small. The bed was comfortable especially the feather pillows.
All the staffs were friendly and helpful. I had my breakfast and dinner in the hotel chinese restaurant for 2 days, a bit dissapointed . Expensive and not worth the price. The Japanese restaurant was much better but dont be happy, it was pricey too.

Stayed here for a night on the business trip to Foshan and was not impressed with this hotel - it might be my least favorite among all the hotels I've stayed in China. Not to suggest that this is a bad hotel - especially given all the reviews this place has garnered from other travelers. Personally, I will not stay here again if given a choice.

I arrived at this Crowne Plaze after staying for a night in the Crowne Plaza in Xiamen and the difference was pretty stark. It is considerably older, the decor was very tack in the lobby and the layout (with various towers leading to rooms and amenities like the gym, sauna, etc) was awkward. The room looked like it needed a makeover and the carpet does not look or smell clean. When I hit the gym half the lights were off (maybe hotel was trying to conserve electricity) and it made the place look rather seedy. I did not sleep well that night because the room was cold despite the fact that the thermostat was set at the max temperature.

On the plus side: the gym is the only one I've been to where real cups (in sanitizing container) are used rather than disposable paper cups. And the staff at the front desk were friendly.

rooms- comfortable, well done interiors.
massive lobby
breakfast was inclusive and good and thats always wise to have while staying in china.
No regrets...will stay again.

Took a bus from HK to Foshan. The bus stop is at Crown plaza! very convenient.

Room Tip: Jen's cafe right outside....they even deliver to your hotel room. Veg/ non-veg...good variety

Having stayed at this hotel many times over the past few years I can recommend it without reservation. Usually my stays are between 3 and 5 nights. Suggest you select an executive room located on one of the executive floors as they are quite large and well furnished. The cost is not that much higher than a standard room. Well equiped with Internet, although slow sometimes there is even a television in the bathroom what more could you want?
The breakfast is a huge buffet with everything you could want including the omlette of your choice cooked for you. There are several restaurants including a Chinese and Western style, both are very good but the Chinese does close rather early. Later than 8.00pm forget it.
Only one problem is that the very nice bar in the lobby area which is comfortable and busy have staff who do not speak much English and have no idea about wines or international drinks. My last time there I ordered a bottle of wine at £78, yes wine in Chinese 5 star hotels is expensive as this was only a bog standard Pinot Grigio, they broke the cork and poured the wine into another bottle trying to get rid of the cork which every time you poured a glass had cork floating nicely on top. They had no idea that was not acceptable until I asked for the Manager who in fairness changed the bottle. It can also take quite a while to get served but never mind after a hard day travelling around it's nice to sit comfortably and relax. The Steak in the Western restaurant is excellent and must be imported from Australia or New Zealand as are the Burgers which are really nice.
Definately better than the Swiss Hotel opposite at the same price. Read my report on my recent stay at the Swiss Hotel.
The club lounge has just been refurbished but it is a bit Chinese for me and remember free drinks are only between 5.30 and 7.30. It is also very quiet whereas the main bar in the lobby is very comfortable and you can easily meet people and have a good chat. If you have any problems or complaints do ask for the Manager who speaks very good English and is very helpful.

Room Tip: An Executive room is really comfortable
