“Relaxed and welcoming with beautiful views of the Atlas mountains.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2010

We were traveling with for boys between the ages of 8 and 14. L''Oliveraie de Marigha was a fantastic start to our boys first ever trip to Africa... Plenty of room to run around, a gorgeous pool (a little chilly at 800m in late October, but hey, they had a swim...) set in amongst the most wonderful olive trees. The bungalows are set in the gardens, lovely well appointed rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and flexible accommodation to suit all requirements (often, traveling with 4 kids, the hotels can't offer us suitable rooms, but L'Oliveraie did). The food was really excellent (the breakfast could have included more fresh fruit, although the bread was delicious...). Celine and Gaeton and the rest of the staff were helpful, welcoming and fun. We felt comfortable and at ease, and found it a great starting point to explore the area. Celine organised a day's walk with mules and lunch in a local Berber village for us, and Gaeton very kindly drove us up to the Tisntest Pass, a spectacular viewing point. We can't thank them enough! Merci! Letitia et Nick et les garcons.

L'Oliveraie de Marigha is stunning.

If you are looking for calm after the bustle of Marrakech then you can't fault this place. Set an hour south of Marrakech, this is 800m high in the Atlas Mountains, with clean air and amazing views in all directions.

Accommodation is in the form of several stone-built chalets, simply laid but furnished to an extremely high standard. These have been built after the original restaurant was opened a few years ago by the current owners Alain and Clotilde.

The bungalows are a discreet distance from the main area, which comprises a restaurant, a circular bar and the two-section pool with sunloungers. There is plenty of shade underneath the olive trees, which form the original plot and give the resort its name.

Hosts Céline and Gaetan run this place with warmth, style, gusto and an eye for detail. Staff are courteous, friendly and extremely attentive. Food is sumptuous and served informally in the restaurant or on the verandah, laid out at night with moroccan lanterns. Bread is baked traditionally on site, and all the staff work and live locally

Our children aged 9 and 12 were welcomed warmly and entertained by Gaetan's tortoise sanctuary, while labrador puppy Tequila provided hours of endless fun.

At weekends the place is busy by day with people seeking calm from the heat of Marrakech, and looking for dinner and a cooling swim in a pleasant surroundings.

I have rarely, if ever posted an unreservedly positive review but, L'Oliveraie truly merits one.

Comprises nine well-appointed 'bungalows' (effectively, room plus en-suite and small terrace) dotted through a century-old vineyard, along with very good restaurant & pool. Stunning setting, lovely views, comfy bed, very clean and well-kept. Hosted by French couple (Gaetan & Celine) and friendly Moroccan staff: Gaetan speaks Engliish well, for those of you who don't have any French. Very hospitable - Gaetan drove us further up into the mountains to a place where we could head off for a trek and spoke with people at a small Guest House there to arrange lunch for our return (Dar Tassa, well worth a visit). Tasty foood at reasonable price. Well worth the trip if you want a few days away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.

Food is often good in Morocco which is known for its rich "cuisine" but at the Oliverai de Marigha it is just excellent. The newly build bungalows are spacious and clean, although they need some decoration. The service is friendly but slow when it is busy which is often the case in the weekend when visitors from Marrakech drop by to have lunch or diner. If you need a baby phone to watch over your baby, ask for one of the bungalows most close to the restaurant area and make sure it covers a good distance. Very nice place with friendly owners, much much better choice then La Bergerie in the same valley.
