“Be Safe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

Really good road for fast driving or riding. Ran it twice in a Subaru BRZ and did not see any law enforcement, although they do show up apparently.

Tips: 1) Stay between the lines! Motorcycles in particular come up the other way really fast. 2) I only saw one but be very aware of idiots (sorry, but that is the correct word here) on bicycles. This is no road for a bicycle. 3) Eyes on the road, always. Seriously, it's a full time job at speed.

Have fun!

“Day drive in car. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

I heard about this & decided I had to drive it on the way back home.
It was curve after curve. Beautiful area & scenic drive. Some in the car complained. Dragon statues at the end were near.
I thought it was cool! A must do!

“Tail of the Dragon (Motorcycle Heaven)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Not for beginners!!!! this windy 11 mile 318 curves is one of the most fun roads I've ever rode on a bike. It's part of the Cherohala Skyway and goes through some beautiful country but keep your eyes on the road. Stop in Killboy and take some pics and buy a shirt. The entire community is biker friendly. Bikes get preferred parking EVERY WHERE

“Thrill ride!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

The winding roads on the Tail of the Dragon were so much fun to ride. I have only been riding a few years and it wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be. As long as you use common sense and ride a speed that you are comfortable with, you will be fine. No speeding though! The 30 mph speed limit is enforced especially on the Saturday that we were there. Friday was not as crowded as Saturday. I traveled with a group of riders on cruisers. We all had a great time!

“Tail of the Dragon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

I have ridden the Tail of the Dragon several times and it lives up to all of the hype. Suggestions to consider:
1: If possible, ride during the week...potentially less traffic and throttle jockeys.
2: If you ride from Tn to NC, less possibilities of encountering an 18 wheeler, but you can meet up with anyone pulling a 5th wheel camper or trailer. The road is tight and with numerous cut backs....lane sharing IS an option!
3: Go slow.....not only for your safety, but for the safety of others.
4: Make note of your time starting....several professional photographers are stationed at various points along the route....it's nice to go back and get action shots of your ride.
