“Worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Stone Mountain State park was a bit surprising. I did a short hike to Stone Mountain Falls and then cheated a bit and drove up to the Hutchinson Homestead. I know - I'm a horrible person, but there was only 4 other people in the park, besides the rangers.... And I was going on from here to Asheville via the Blue Ridge Parkway (4+ Hours) that night. If I had more time, I might have done the Stone Mountain Loop or hiked a bit closer to the Mountain, but I think I saw the highlights.

PS - The short hike to Widow Creek Falls is not to be missed.

“Over the top!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Wonderful to see our tax dollars put to such good use. Great facilities, well maintained trails and stairways, not your average hike! Got good advice to park in the lower lot and hike the loop counter clockwise.

“Best views within driving distance for Piedmont Triad region”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

I've been visiting this park yearly since I was very young (about 25 years total) and it is definitely the prettiest close-by park. About an hour and a half drive for a great 360 degree view from the top of the mountain...can't beat it! :)

“A park is a park”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This is a great example of a state park. There is the walk ways and the fantastic carving but it was a little foreboding and there was a disconnect for me that said I was glad to have been there but once was enough.

“Beautiful park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Beautiful park with a lot of wildlife. The water falls are beautiful, the stone formation is quite impressive, some trails are challenging, the picnic areas are nice and shaded. Everything is ther for a great family gathering and good old fashion fun.
