Both service and food were amazing. I got there early and waited for my friend at the bar - I wanted to try one of the famously unusual cocktails, but I can't drink alcohol right now, so I asked for a non-alcoholic version. The bartender was extremely gracious and pointed out ones that would taste best with a "virgin" version, and even asked me if I would like another at an appropriate moment, so I didn't feel like I was doing something unusual. She was also very gracious to an annoying customer nearby who kept ordering things and asking if they were spicy, then sending them back for being "too spicy." The pace was perfect - relaxed but prompt. I haven't even gotten to the food yet! There is a variety of dishes on the menu - some are more traditional Laotian, and some are more fusion-type items. The salmon with chili sauce melted in my mouth - it was perfectly cooked and the flavor was amazing. I am no expert but I would guess that it was cooked with the skin on, then removed later. My friend got the pork belly soup, which was rich and flavorful. I should add that I felt the prices were very reasonable for the skill of the chefs. This is the new standard for my restaurant-going friend and I - we compare every outing with our Bida Manda experience!
